Sassy Senior Sleuths Return Reviews

Sassy Senior Sleuths Return by authors P. C. James and Kathryn Mykel is the second installment of short stories. I have not read the first one - yet. I wasn't sure what to expect or if I would even like it, but have enjoyed others by Ms Mykel so decided to give it a try. I'm so happy I did. What worked for me was although short, each mystery was complete. Though being able to read in any order, I found they progressed in displaying growth of the characters from one to the next. That gave a feel of a complete book to me when I finished. While I still enjoy a complete plot in one book, for a changeup, this was a unique presentation I would like to read again.

I received my copy from Kathryn Mykel to try. The opinions in my review are my own and made by myself alone.

No matter where sassy senior sleuths Nona and Pauline find themselves traveling to, they always seem to find themselves stumbling upon a mystery or a body! While that might not make them someone I would want to travel with myself (ha!), it does make for a super fun collection of short stories!

As the title suggests, this is the second Sassy Senior Sleuths collection, but I definitely think it could be read just fine as a standalone as well. These stories are short... shorter than a novella even. I worried that with a mystery, that wouldn't give readers a whole lot of time to get into it or solve the crime, but these ladies are quick and to the point. While I could certainly enjoy a full-sized novel with these fun characters, these bite-sized mysteries deliver just enough fun to keep me wanting to read more. I love that they can be read together, or here and there when I just need a quick read too.

If you're looking for a short, fun mystery, this collection is certainly one to check out. I hope to see more from these sleuths to come!

**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

This second helping of Sassy Senior Sleuths brings us more adventures of Nona and Pauline. Vacation is never dull for these two amateur detectives, with murders, thefts, and mysteries dogging their every step.

I enjoyed the variety of plots and settings in this latest book. From an opulent cruise liner, arid Death Valley, and misty Stanley Park in Canada's Vancouver, the short stories show the crime solving duo in action under diverse circumstances.

Without divulging the plot, the final two-part short story was both intriguing and a bit of a surprise to me. But I won't disclose why. You'll have to read this well-written, engaging cozy mystery collection to discover what I mean!

Sassy Senior Sleuths Return by authors P. C. James and Kathryn Mykel is the second installment of short stories. What I enjoyed about it for me was although the stories were short, each mystery was in its own complete. Though you could be able start to read in any order, I rather found that they progressed in displaying a sense of growth of the characters from one to the next. That gave a feel of a complete book for me when I was finished reading. While still enjoying a completely different plot in one book to the next, for a changeup, this was a unique presentation I would look forward to read future writing again.

Short mini mysteries with a variety of locations and plots, and 2 senior sleuths with different investigative skills. Miss Riddell is the more serious and reserved detective of the duo, and Nona is the more outgoing and impulsive. I enjoyed the mysteries, especially the variety of plots, although the last story seems it will be continued in the next volume. Enjoyable short reads! I received an ARC of this book from the author, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I received an Advanced Reader copy from Book Funnel for my honest review. The Sassy Sleuths stumble upon murders everywhere they travel. Each mini mystery will take about a half hour to read. Pauline and Nona have great instincts and seem to recognize behaviors of the criminals. These are fun, short mysteries with unexpected solutions. I didn’t figure out any of the mysteries before reading the solution. If you like cozy mysteries, you will like these mini mysteries!

Sassy Senior Sleuths Return is a fun read. Nona and Pauline are a hoot as they attract dead bodies wherever they travel. Love the humorous interchange between the two seniors. Also enjoyed the different settings. Short, complete mysteries, until the last one, which ended in a cliffhanger. Enjoyable and just the thing for a relaxing and feel-good read. The last two stories contained a shocking twist I didn't see coming. The cliffhanger at the end only made me want to read more.

Short stories of two ladies who have been friends for years and go on vacation together . They have a knack of finding a murder victim and becoming involved with the investigation. While I'm not a fan of short stories these were more like one story progressing to an end. I want to read more because my curiosity is now being kicked up.

Fun short mysteries. If these two senior sleuths arrive in your town, leave! Murder follows them. I really liked Nona and Pauline as characters and the mysteries are fun. Excellent despite the cliff-hanger ending. I will be reading more by these authors. I received a complimentary copy from the Author and am leaving a honest voluntary review

A compilation of very short cozies with a bit of humor, starring a pair of senior women, curious and sticking their noses into any mystery they come across. They often offer up odd theories to the local police that prove true.
I was offered the opportunity to peruse this book gratis and offer my opinion in the same.

    Short and Sweet Mini Mysteries
This is a series of cozy mysteries. These are mini-mysteries, not short stories. They are about 20 pages long and perfect for lunchtime reading. They are quick and very lightweight. Two senior women vacation together and there seems to always be a dead body. And, of course, they solve the mystery. These are fun.

Sassy Senior Sleuths Pauline and Nona love to vacation. And solve murders. Which makes for a great combination, since they seem to go hand in hand. This book of short stories will keep you guessing what’s next. And you will enjoy some laugh out loud moments too. I received and advanced readers copy of this book.

I wasn't sure if this was my type of book to read. It started a little to easy to figure out but by the time I got to the second story, I was immersed in the story and enjoyed going from one story to the next. The last story leaves you hanging so I'm looking forward to reading more stories in this series.

A fun, quick read. I love reading about the interesting & humorous adventures of sleuths that are near my age. Since it ends in a cliffhanger, I sure hope the Sassy Senior Sleuths return again soon! ❤️

Pauline and Gretta (Nona) are at it again. No matter where they vacation these senior sleuths are always finding and solving mysteries. They are funny, engaging and intelligent, with all the books fun to read. Each story leaves you with a smile on your face.

  • Bonnie J.

I received a copy from the author.
These short mysteries were fun to read. I want to be these ladies when I get to their age. Each mystery is different and can be read in any order. I can't wait for their next adventures.

  • Sherri Moore

Pauline and Nona make a fun crime-solving duo in this series of 6 mini-mysteries. They are experts at observation and can’t pass up a good mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed the interplay between these two ladies as they worked out each mystery. They kept me guessing!
