    - a tongue-in-cheek how-to guide that tries to be helpful and funny at the same time, but ends up being insulting to both men and women (as predictable sex-stereotypes are beaten to death by over repetition and gross exaggeration
    - probably deserves a lower rating, now that I think about it

  • Callie

A great bachelor soon-to-be married man guide. If you are ever wondering what to get that friend who's getting married. It's a really funny easy and helpful read.

I held onto this book from my local library for the maximum time allowed - meaning, it's subject matter didn't strike me as all that valuable but the tone seemed fun.

It IS fun - even if I am not the authors ideal audience of inept guy who wants to better please the women in his life.

Besides the titles main question which got handled rather generally - not at all as detailed as I think it could be - I enjoyed the 'How to act like you know wine' 6 pages and some of the things in the section labeled 'Communication' like 'How to Listen, Apologize, and Talk About Your Feelings.'

The 'Unclogging the Bathroom Sink' directions and illustration was appreciated. Also the stir-fry stages of veggies cooking times. The self-defense section caused me to think about things I have never considered which is not very smart - but the idea of using a wad of toilet paper as a fart muffler to mute your sounds in a bathroom where others could hear - struck me as the weirdest of the weirds.

Now I just have to check out 3 of the sites the author recommended in his references. Learn2.com, Sharpman.com and Askmen.com
