E-Z Algebra (Barron's Easy Way) Reviews

This is an excellent supplement to Algebra I courses and also includes many if not most Algebra II topics. It teaches algebra through a fantasy story about a kingdom. The plot is obviously contrived to teach the various topics, but it's still a lot of fun. The characters are likable and great fun. I especially liked how Recordis the royal scribe fainted any time imaginary numbers were mentioned.
We didn't realize it was supposed to be a supplement nor that it covered both Algebra I and II, so my homeschooled son used it as his math text for one year. It worked well for him, but he's naturally good at math.
It's also a great supplement for students who struggle with math. I lent a copy to a girl who was totally mystified by graphing and she finally got it - the illustration of using a map grid to guide a helicopter pilot made the Cartesian coordinate plane make sense to her for the first time.
Highly recommended. -
