The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today

The moral of this book is to prepare today for what you might need tomorrow. The ant woke up early every day, made breakfast for her kids, and gathered food during the summer and fall to prepare for the winter. The cheerful grasshopper, however, lay enjoying the sun and laughed at the days ahead. Winter came and the grasshopper became cold and didn't have any food. The ant tells him that since he didn't work in the summer, he can't expect food in the winter. The ant makes the grasshopper's laziness a lesson to her kids. This book is a great read aloud for all elementary grades starting from kindergarten since the words are simple to understand and the lesson applies to everyone; do your homework and read every day to prepare for tomorrow.
