This story although you can tell was written in the 70's-or 80's (or earlier) may have some illustrations that may seem 'strange' to children today but nothing to very strange. This book introduces the listener-reader to sounds the animals make and what animals are 'named' a little boy sets out to name his new cat. He asks the humans around him but then goes out and starts asking the farm animals who in reply answers with the noises they make.

I see how this could be appealing to kids -- the various names are bound to start to seem funny to them, and children will undoubtedly have their own ideas for what to name the kitties. One of those simple, old-school children's books.
