Finally! I wasn't sure I'd I would make the ending. Let's just say this isn't a Touch of Heaven. For some reason I loved that book. Although this wasn't bad, it was just tough reading a boring book.

The scrumptious looking hottie on the cover was a bonus to another great read from Maureen Smith. This novel is about Reese St. James, a doctor from Houston and Michael Wolf, a celebrity chef living in Atlanta, GA. Michael is the brother of Marcus Wolf, who heated things up with Samara in Taming the Wolf. I highly recommend Taming the Wolf, by the way.

The book started off slowly, which was fine by me because it gave me a chance to get to know the main and minor characters. Another reason for the slow progression of the romance was the fact that Reese had a boyfriend she didn’t want to cheat on. Michael, still somewhat scarred from the affair his mother had when he was younger, had a code of conduct which didn't allow him to pursue women already in relationships.

What I liked about this book:
    1. Descriptions of the food and restaurant life were a treat for a foodie like me.

    2. The fact that the hero and heroine didn’t jump into bed right away with each other, despite the chemistry between them. Quick sex happens so often in romance novels, it was a refreshing change. I was able to see them through each other’s eyes, what they liked, how they interacted with the people in each other's world, and so it made sense that the instantaneous attraction lead to love.

    3. Plenty of double entendres between the two played well, escalating the sexual tension.

    4. Moments where Michael showed his romantic, tender side. He’s hot, can cook, and he’s romantic. (sigh)

    5. Steamy, unique love scenes, which is typical of Ms. Smith.

I really like the way she writes the intense feelings her heroes feel for the heroines. It’s an all-consuming love that leaves these manly men helpless and vulnerable in the heat of the moment. Words spill from their lips with such earnest intensity, the power of their feelings practically jump off the page.

    What I didn’t like:
    1. I was disappointed that Reese ended up cheating on her boyfriend. I realize these things happen, and she felt guilty about it, but when there’s cheating in a book, I need something to justify it. It wasn’t justified.

The fact that Victor worked hard and she felt their relationship was already over wasn’t enough—it wasn’t over, so she should have ended it before she slept with Michael. In addition, Michael’s aversion to pursuing women already in a relationship didn’t stop him from pursuing Reese. I suppose I could simply say that their love for each other was the catalyst for their behavior, but it still bothered me. However, I know better than to let my personal opinion affect the rating of a book that is well-written, which this one is.

    2. The so-called “black moment” at the end bothered me too. Every romance novel has one, where it looks as if the couple won't get to their HEA.

After overhearing a conversation between Michael and his producer, Reese’s quick jump to the conclusion that everything they’d shared had been fake and a joke didn’t ring true for me, and so I was very disappointed in the abrupt way she left town without a word and planned to break off their relationship. After sharing such intimacies and such closeness, how could she leave town so abruptly without speaking to him? How could she plan to break things off without talking to him first?

My disappointments were minor when compared with the totality of the work. I think Recipe for Temptation is a great book and can’t wait to read Whatever You Like.

Whoa, Hot and Sexy, I love everything about this book....each and every one of the characters! The Wolf's family is honestly so incredibly beautiful and quite fascinating: Marcus, Samara, Sterling, Celeste, and Asha....

The story was sweet, steamy, enticing, and compassionate. Reese St. James is honest, helpful, and strong young woman, who is a doctor. Michael Wolf, a worldwide popular chef, was instantly in love with her from the first moment he met her....Their love story is priceless....

Great job, Ms. Smith, excellent plot and storyline with exceptional characters....

    Highly recommended.....😘 😉

I really don't understand how this book is so well liked. Reese spends basically the entire book cheating on her boyfriend, who is sending her flowers and telling her he misses her the whole time! I get that they weren't right for each other, but she didn't have the decency to officially break up with him before jumping Michael's bones repeatedly?!

I'm sorry, but unexplainable disloyalty is one of my buttons and this book pressed HARD.

  • Kim

Funny, whitty, sexy, you can't get much better than that! The banter back and forth between Reese and Michael was so hilarious!! and they had so much chemistry and passion as well. I was reading this in public and laughing my pants off. Luv luv this book...stop reading this review and buy it NOW!!!

There was an incredible growth in terms of writing and description between this book and Taming the Wolf. The way the love in described is so entrapping, I could barely fathom having to put the book down. I've never felt so happy and entertained at the bond between two main characters as I was with Michael and Reese.

  • Lorice DeBlanc-Brim

    I love it!

There's nothing to dislike about Reese and Michael. They are the perfect match. His ying to her yang. And on top of that they're very comical.

Loved this book. The chemistry, the banter, everything

I didn't like the book from page one. Sure doctor Reese loses a patient, I"m sure it has happened before. I guess death only happens frequently in the emergency room or with the geriatric patients, not with OB/GYN's. So I did not feel any empathy for the character's need to take a two month leave from her job just because one of her patients died. The patient had a serious condition that led to death, it was not a medical accident. Another thing I didn't like about this was the unbelievable and stilted dialogue between Wolf and his dad. No one talks the way Maureen wrote. It just doesn't seem like a dad would talk that way. Marueeen used energetic and brilliant words for each sentence, but they were not enticing enough for me. I didn't see the need for the chef Wolf to be a buff bodybuilder. After a certain age, eating all that unhealthy food catches up with you, fitness center/basketball in your complex or not. He can work out but if that restaurant serves huge dessert which he has to sample, it is unbelievable Chef Wolf looks like Fabio versus Bobby Flay. In addition, it was obvious Reese did not like Victor, her boyfriend from home- break up with him already. Reese unnecessarily drags out the relationship with Victor while secretly having the hots for Chef Wolf. I do not recommend this book.

Michael Wolfe is a world famous celebrity chef and owner of one of the hottest restaurants in Atlanta. When Dr. Reese St James is on sabbatical from her job in Houston and ends up in Atlanta for the next two months, she can’t help but want to taste, the cuisine of her T.V. crush. Michael mistakenly thinks she is a food critic. Believing she mislead him, he makes plans to teach the sexy doctor a lesson. By the time he realizes his error, the damage is done. As fate would have it Reese wins a contest to appear with the sexy chef on his T.V. show and even though she is angry at how her treated her she agrees to be on the show, how else will she get her revenge, but her plans got to pot when the attraction between them starts to simmer and soon boil over.
What can I say, I love the Wolfe pack, great series, and Reese and Michael were fire with a capital F. I love everything about this book, it had just the right balance of hot and steam mixed with romance. The plot was great and the secondary characters had me laughing out loud. I can’t wait to read more of this series. I loved the flow of the story. When you read a book written by Ms. Smith, it feels like you are watching a movie. Kudos! And keep them coming.

    4 stars!!!

Recipe for Temptation exceeded my expectations immensely. I was apprehensive because I thought it was going to be super cheesy and predictable. So glad I gave it a chance because I was proven wrong! I loved this story, so let's just jump in shall we?

    1. It showed African-Americans in a different/positive light. Unlike most "urban/black" books where the main characters are in some crime filled, oversexed, profane "hood" lifestyle. This time we get professionals (OBGYN and Chef/Author).

    2. The hero and Heroine were very likable (especially the hero! Do men that romantic and sexy really exist?). I like that everything wasn't instant. They took their time without the story being slow.

3.The secondary characters were so likable too! I wanted to jump in the pages and marry into the Wolf family! They were funny and loving!

I don't know what else to say except that this short-and-sweet, funny, and sexy book rocked and I look forward to more by Maureen Smith.

It’s rare that I laugh out loud at a romance book, much less an erotic romance--and this is definitely erotic. The sparks fly from the first chapter. I can’t decide if Michael or Quentin, from Tempt me at Midnight, is my favorite Wolf Pack character. Michael is adorable from the beginning, even if he is a jerk. He doesn’t stay a jerk for long, even if they stay at odds for awhile.

From the first page Reese pulls at your sympathies because you can tell she’s really hurting over the patient she lost. Then she meets her dream guy, but she has a boyfriend and feels guilty for her strong attraction. Michael thinks she’s someone else, but then instead of being able to apologize and chase her, he is suspicious with Reese having a boyfriend since his mother was unfaithful and abandoned the family. The parts filming the tv show are adorable and funny, and the restaurant is a vivid location (for more than this book).

Being a medical student who likes to cook, I loved Reese’s journey. Michael’s family is wonderful, and you really need to read this book.

HOTTT!!!! This was really good I couldn't stop reading it to see just how much Michael and Reese butted heads. Reese was really done from the second she met him and her situation with Victor still was untold, I think. I didn't understand what there relationship was but it didn't seem like enough for her to act the way she did towards him. Seemed like he was a good guy that she put through the ringer for someone else. The ending with the parents was beyond interesting, I really wanted to see how that turned out. Again this was a whirlwind romance happening in a few short weeks and I really hate that. With as much time that had past from the last story to this one it seems like a waste of good time for a relationship to grow before the whole marriage thing. Good read though.

Reese has always had a little crush on her favorite celebrity chef, Michael Wolf. Michael, however, is distrusting of women as they seem to be attracted to him for very superficial reasons. In this installment of the "Wolfpack" and "Mayne Attraction" crossover series, Reese wins an apprenticeship with her fantasy man and her reality becomes better than any of her fantasies. Through a series of comical mishaps and misunderstandings, these two tumble into a sexy affair. This novel was a sensuous delight and it was fun to catch up with characters from Maureen Smith's "Taming the Wolf" and "Touch of Heaven". Smith is a wonderful writer and while some of her other books seem to singe your hands they're so scorching, this one is more playful, but is none the less enjoyable. I highly recommend.

RFT has to be one of the best books I've read this year. Reese and Michael were wonderful and the chemistry was sizzling between these two!! I think what made the book so hot was the build up and the constant sparks between these two. I loved how Reese told off Michael several times, and boy she didn't hold anything back. It was too funny. I think that was another reason why the chemistry was so electric. I really hated to see this book end. Where is my Michael? Gotta love that hottie! This is only my second book of Maureen's, the other being Whatever You Like, and it's by far my favorite! Can't wait to read more....

Loved this books! Reese ST James and Michael Wolf it's love at first sight. At least for her she's been in lust with Michael Wolf from the fist time she saw Michael on T.V. On his nationally acclaimed cooking show "Howling Good". A chance meeting at his restaurant is just the start they need. Only problem is Reese has a boyfriend back home in Texas. Once Michael discovers he is in love he can't let her go. There's only one problem she doesn't feel loved. Excellent book I've read it twice and I'm working on my third time

    Cute

This is the story of Michael,,internationally renowned chef and big brother of Marcus, star of the first book of this series and Reese, a ob -gym doctor who takes a two month sabbatical after one of her patients dies.

Reese has had a crush on Reese for years. They get off to a bad start with lots of misunderstandings but the eventually go f on lust to like to love. I generally liked the book. It was a little too cutesy and contrived for me at times and Reese's indecisiveness drove me crazy, but all-in-all it was a good book and an entertaining read

Once again Ms. Smith has delivered a wonderful reading experience. This story has a very strong heroine and hero whose sexual chemisty will just come off the pages. But, the humor in this story will have you smiling to yourself. Despite knowing what the ending will be - the hero and heroine keep you guessing how will they get to their happy ending. A secondary romance in the book just adds more pleasure to the story.

After I read Taming The Wolf, I immediately began this second installment in the Wolf Pack series. Reese is an OBGYN on sabbatical after losing a patient and Michael Wolf is her favorite celebrity chef. A case of mistaken identity throw these two off course for just a bit, but after that, it's on. Reese and Michael are wonderful together and despite their short time together, fall in love and I enjoyed reading their love story. Can't wait for the next stories in this series, especially Q's.

I fucking love this book! I made a mistake on reading this one before the first initial book but then I bought the first one right away and read that one in the spans of two days. These stories are so amazing and I love the fact that they are represented as strong successful black couples and people! Ughhh I respect the author so much for that! I cried at the end of both books and will forsure be buying the third! THIS IS A MUST READ!
