1.5 STARS
Based on the synopsis, I was really looking forward to this book, but unfortunately, it wasn't what I expected at all. There was no pleasant surprise. This book was an utter nightmare from the beginning to end.
Anais is already in a relationship with another man when the book starts. She's pretty much sneaking out of his bed after another round of lack luster sex, when she's kidnapped by Dremon, a vampire/demon. They proceed to his home in Scotland where he turns her sexual fantasies into reality.
The sex scenes weren't really my cup of tea, but that wasn't the real issue I had with the story. Anais decides to leave Dremon because she has a life (totally understandable) and family that she loves. This is the same family that she proceeds to curse out maybe about five pages later. I just didn't feel the love. We all have issues with our families, but I couldn't understand why she would want to stay around them when she obviously disliked them so much.
Add insult to injury, her ex-lover is bitten by a werewolf and just so happens to show up at her apartment the night that Dremon decides to come back to her. A fight ensues...you get the drift.
It felt like I was reading every vampire cliche rolled into a story with borderline abusive sex scenes and a heroine that I couldn't understand and didn't really like. I'll give Ms. Knight's other work a chance, but I will definitely not be reading this book again or recommending it to anyone. -
