My greatest life accomplishment is reading the entire Bible. As a believer, we should know the word of God for our own and not just taught to us. The Bible truly is alive and active. The Holy Spirit reveals all truth! I promise this book will change your life!

In 2008, my resolution was to finally read the entire Bible in one year. Today, I accomplished that goal. Spending time daily (or almost daily!) in the Word really added depth to my life and helped me to look at things in a new way, so it's a practice I hope to continue. Now, I will switch to my life application Bible, but this was a good version with which to begin.
Although the books are in the same order as usual, each day there is an exerpt from the Old Testament, Proverbs, Psalms, and the New Testament. In this way, you're reading those sections simultaneously. At first I thought this might mess up my sense of context, but it worked out okay. I especially enjoyed that there was a devotional excerpt from various Max Lucado books at the beginning of each day's reading. He is very gifted at making the foundational messages come alive for me.
This Bible was a New Century Version translation. Sometimes I'm wary of less common translations, but this book explains in the preface why the NCV translation is valuable. For instance, I really appreciated that it translated old measurements to pounds and feet. NCV also puts idiomatic expressions and figures of speech into clear terms, but maintains gender language. (Gender neutrality in newer translations is a point of controversy, from what I have heard.)
There are a few footnotes for explanation, but they are relatively minimal, as this is not a study Bible. Overall, I was happy with this specific Bible and thought it was a good one for reading God's Word in a year. I look forward to reading more books by Max Lucado as well.
Oh, and I'm not rating the Bible itself four stars, just this specific presentation of it. ;) Also, this book has 1268 pages, not 1280, as listed on this site. -

I just finished using this Daily Bible for the past year's daily readings. I have to say it was a terrible disappointment. It ended well, but it really got off on the wrong foot.
Genealogies of the patriarchs are an important part of the historical record of the Bible. But listening to a listing of names as a devotional is hardly appropriate. About the first 20% of the book was devoted to these selections. With this being a devotional book, and with so many fine scripture selections to choose from, I am still scratching my head at their choice of selections for the first few months of this offering.
The devotional snippets followed track. In the latter part of the book, the devotionals paralleled the scripture selection and added value to that day's presentations. But again... how do you match a devotional to a listing of names? So these devotional selections sometimes were orphans with no purpose or connection, or even flowing theme over a weekly progression. This much improved as we moved past the genealogical portion of the Bible.
This is not a devotional Bible that I will be coming back to. -
This is a wonderful version of the Bible that sets a plan to read through it in a year mixing a selection of Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs. I love the New Century version best of all and the daily devotions by Max Lucado are so inspiring. I read this on my phone for easy access. Highly recommended!

Have been through this book 2-3 times and found it a perfect way to tackle the Bible. Beautifully coordinated old and New Testament reading along with Psalms and Proverbs, and Max Lucado's inspiring commentary and thoughts for your day!

This was a great daily bible reading in a year book. Each day is a short Max Lucado devotional and a reading from the Old Testament, Psalms, Proverbs and the New Testament. I really enjoy reading the Bible this way and, of course Max Lucado never fails to provide good reading material.

The NCV is not my favorite translation, but its prose is clear. The daily devotionals taken from Max Lucado's writings were a definite treat.

I received a copy of this for Christmas. It is a one-year daily read Bible with excellent commentary by Max Lucado. He uses the "New Century Version" which I really enjoy. I have never read this version before and it is really neat to compare with NIV and NSAB. I also really enjoy looking at the old Greek and Hebrew languages as compared to modern English, and Max does a great job explaining the translations and how and why certain words and names were used. I.e.[God changed Abram's name to "Abraham" because God promises to give him many decedents and the last part of the name "Abraham" sounds like the Hebrew word for "many".] There are many little commentary like this that are really interesting and help to give a better understanding of the context. If you are looking for another way to go through the whole Bible, I highly recommend this one!

This was a great way to read through the Bible in a year! Max had a relevant excerpt from one of his books for every day that tied in well with the reading. I especially liked the way he organized the Bible passages: an OT reading, part of a Psalm and a Proverb or two and then a NT reading. I also enjoyed my chosen format. I downloaded a digital version of this book, so it didn't weigh a ton and I could easily carry it with me.

A great way to read the Bible, one day at a time. Max Lucado very nicely gives the reader a daily reading from the Old Testament, Psalms, Proverbs, and the New Testament. Each day opens with a short writing from one of Lucado's previous books and then a reading from each section of the Bible, completing the book in 1 full year.

Fantastic journey through the Bible in a year. I can finally say I have read the whole book! I love the way Lucado organized this one. Daily devotionals paired with reading from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs.

Good chapter intros. I do not like this version of the Bible, so I'm going to use the template and read the intros, but use my NIV version.
