Religion in American History Reviews
-
This is a fantastic introduction to religious movements in American history.
The authors break the period from the colonial era to the present into four parts, then break it down further into four themes (politics, cosmology, community, practice). You can read the book chronologically by part, or chronologically by theme. Because of this, it makes for a confusing read at times.
Besides the book's organization, the only other criticism is that the period between 1898 and the present is not given an equal treatment to the other three eras.
