Declaring the Steel Wolves mercenaries, Anastasia plans to sell the Clan's skills to the highest bidders. Fighting wars for wealth and continuous supplies of upgraded equipment will provide her elite troops an autonomy and strength that almost no other MechWarrior battalion can match. But her decision divides the Steel Wolves, with many veterans striking off on their own. Reduced to a mere fraction of their original strength, Anastasia's newly rechristened Wolf Hunters seek worthy warriors to refill their ranks.
Star Colonel Varnoff Fetladral, one of Kerensky's most vocal opponents, believes Anastasia has betrayed the founding principles of the Clan. With his own faction of loyal Steel Wolves by his side, he sets out to hunt down and destroy every member of the Wolf Hunters - and to restore MechWarrior honor...
Wolf Hunters Reviews

This is the twenty second book in the Mech Warrior Dark Age series. This series is a continuation of the Battletech series. The books in this series, like the books in the original Battletech series, are by various authors. This one is by Kevin Killiany. The Republic of the Sphere has known a long period of peace and prosperity. Then the interstellar communications network a.k.a. the HPG net is destroyed by terrorists and many planets in the Republic find themselves cut off from the rest of the galaxy with communications taking weeks or even months. Unrest leads to several factions on several planets trying to overthrow the local governments and seize power for themselves.
The back cover describes this book to be about Anastasia Kerensky and her leadership of the Steel Wolves. Her declaration of the Steel Wolves as mercenaries leads to a split in the Clan with many of the Wolves deciding to go their own way. This results in two smaller Clans forming. The Steel Wolves, under Star Colonel Varnoff Fetladral and the Wolf Hunters, under Anastasia Kerensky. Overall, this novel deals very little with Anastasia, but follows the exploits of the Wolves who have left the Clan.
This book is an excellent first Mech Warrior book for Kevin Killiany. Not quite the quality of a Mike Stackpole or Blaine Pardoe but much better than some efforts in this series. Take a chance you'll enjoy this author. -
Interesting read
Interesting read about the transformation of the steel wolves into mercenaries as the Wolf Hunters and the splintering into different factions with the Republic of the Sphere attempting to use said factions against each other to further their own ends.
