Royally Whacked: An Amateur Female Duchess Detective Cozy Mystery (The Duchess of Snodsbury Amateur Detective Series) Reviews

What a fun read for the second book in this series! Lady Mary, her adorable corgi, butler and cook are off for a fun trip to visit a friend and enjoy a tennis tournament. The balls stop flying quickly when someone dies in the middle of the tournament.
The Secret Six begin working to find out if there’s been a crime and catch the culprit if there has been. Personally, I adore Barkley, Lady Mary’s corgi. He’s as important a character as the rest – and quite a good little sleuth!
There are so many possibilities, secrets, twists and turns, you don’t want to stop reading!!
You’ll be laughing at some of the antics and stories from the past that are brought up along the way (you need to keep in mind that it’s 1959 in England; no phones or technology to help).
You’ll enjoy the strong characters and be delighted by the hamlet of Upper Wainsbury.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily. -
I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful second book in the Lady Mary cozy mystery series. This time she, her cute corgi Barkley, and her sleuthing associates set out to solve a poisoning.
There's a complication. The suspicious death occurs during a tennis weekend at an old friend's house in the country. Could Lady Mary's friends be involved?
It was fun reading about the dead ends and ups and downs of the investigation. Lady Mary, her adorable dog, faithful butler Ponsonby, and Cook make for a determined team! Once again, a trio of young women comes to their aid to help catch the killer. I'm sure fans of cozy mystery will love this latest well-written book. -

This is a good mystery.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Author. This in no way affects my opinion of this book. -
“All the evils of the world to be found in everyday village life.”
When one of her young sleuths calls with tales of strange happening in her village Lady Mary takes the show on the road. Reunited with her old friend Nellie, who thinks her daughter is seeing sinister dealing when there is none, With everyone a suspect, including new and old sleuthing partners, Mary leads us on a merry chase! Well done. -
Well written and engaging
Lady Mary is in another predicament, but with help from the sister sleuths and her loyal staff, she searches for the truth. The sequel is as much fun as the first, although it can also be a standalone. Great plot and lots of fun (unless, of course, you happen to be the unfortunate victim in the story) -
This is a fun cozy mystery that's full of twists and turns. It holds your attention from the first page until the last and will keep you guessing until the end.
I received a complimentary copy and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own. -
A collaboration. And not just the authors, also between Lady Mary, Margie, Winnie, and Dotty. Many clues. Many suspects. Did not feel particularly sorry for the victim, I'll have to say.
Definitely enjoyed reading this. And was not at all sure about whodunit. -
I enjoy reading this cozy mystery, with intriguing plot and unconventional characters. Duchess Mary is one of the kind and it was good to follow in her footsteps while she was looking for murderer. What I like about this book it is lightness despite murder involved.

I really enjoyed this 2nd book of a new series. The characters are interesting and fun. The small town/British estates setting is one I love. And the storyline is amazing. Big surprise ending!
