An ok read that was really didn't hit the spot for me. The characters were supposed to be strong, but didn't really seem that way. Especially Severina, she's supposed to be a 'gladiator' but when crisis comes she doesn't really have the strength and cowers...*sigh*...that was disappointing. This was the first book I've found (and read) that was set in Roman times and I was a little excited to read it. However, most of the book was slow feeling and had me mentally dragging my feet in reading it. I did like the ending (better than the first part of the book), and the last few chapters pick up a little, but overall I didn't really feel this book. I think it was mainly that the couple just got on my nerves a lot. I'm still hopeful that this era isn't ruined for me. Good Luck!
