Now this is what I’m talkin’ about!
Savor the Danger is what I love in my Romantic Suspense reads! Hot, hot, hot heroes, and sexy, strong, intelligent heroines who do everything in their power to support the man they love – or the man they lust after, as the case may be. And did I mention hot heroes?
This story continues with our hero(es) working to bring down those scum of the earth men and women who make their living off of the misery of others by buying and selling human beings. Those are among the worse kinds of people I can think of, and knowing that this really happens outside the pages of books makes me sick. There’s a special place in hell for ‘people’ – and I use the word lightly – who think they have the right to do things like this. And while it could make for a very dark read, Ms. Foster handles this issue in a way that gets the point across without making it uncomfortable. Bravo!
In this story, Jackson has had the hots for Alani for awhile, but kept his distance because, well, for one thing, she was aloof and didn’t much give him the time of day. But most importantly, I think, was that he wanted to give her some time to recuperate from the kidnapping we read about in book one, When You Dare. But when he wakes up to find Alani in bed with him, and has absolutely no recollection of how she got there, they’ve got no choice but to work together and find out who drugged Jackson and why.
Jackson is all the things I love in an Alpha hero. He’s physically able to take out the bad guys in one scene and burn up the sheets –figuratively speaking, of course – in the next. He’s passionate, determined, and incredibly sexy. And, in the bedroom? Let's just say he likes to take time to “talk” things through, if you know what I mean. Usually, the sex-just-for-the-sake-of-getting-off in a story doesn’t do anything for me, but Jackson made it work big time, because honestly? He wanted Alani in his bed as desperately as she wanted to be there, and in truth it wasn’t just about the sex for either of them.
Going in to Savor the Danger I worried that I’d find more of the TSTL (not the brightest bulb in the box) heroines that I found in Molly and Priss, but thankfully, that wasn’t the case. Alani is smart, level headed, kind, generous and incredibly supportive of her man. She’s had about a year to recover from her abduction by human traffickers, and she has some residual PTSD moments, but overall she was just wonderful, and exactly the kind of woman I’d want for a man like Jackson Savor.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!
Not that I had any doubt what so ever that I would love Jackson and his story just as much as the previous two, but I believe this one was my absolute favorite! I mean seriously, can you just picture this beautiful, yet lethal cowboy lounging on your front step when you arrive home? My favorite part in this whole book was at that exact moment, as he appeared to be asleep and Alani starts to back away, he drawls "Don't make me chase you darlin'!" TOTAL SWOON WORTHY MOMENT!!! *fanning myself*
Ok, back to the review! This was the third(and I believe last, though I really hope not!)book in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series. I have really enjoyed the books in this series but Jackson, IMO, is a special kind of delicious. He is sweet & kind but also a take charge Alpha, we all know how I love those....and I absolutely loved Alani, who has has a very rough go of it lately but didn't let any of that break her. She was tough and sweet and innocent at the same time. The perfect match for Jackson. Their chemistry made the pages smoke!!
We meet a couple of new characters in this book and I pray that they get their own book because even having just briefly met Spencer and Arizona I can feel their sizzle and I KNOW there is some good story there!!

I loved this one as much as I did the first time around, probably more!....Jackson is just to die for and I enjoyed the chase and retreat from the H/h.
If you haven't read this series yet then you really are missing a treat!

I really liked this one. Brilliant writing from Lori - I have said many times that I love Lori's style of writing and she is one of my favourite authors.
I fell in love with Jackson *swoon swoon* - I enjoyed seeing his insecurities when it came to Alani and how he felt about her and how their relationship developed. I still felt that the suspense a little lacking but you know what I really don't care as I loved the story, characters and the sex scenes were steamy!
Can't wait for the next installment which is due out next year. -
I can't handle Lori Foster. In fact, I'm pretty sure I should only be allowed to read Lori Foster books when I am home sick, because that is the only way these books are enjoyable.
Although to be honest, I really loved the opening of this story -- Jackson Savor, manliest stud evar (except for books 1 and 2), wakes up, rolls over, sees a chick in his bed, then pukes! He's been roofied, but it's not date rape guise, because it's Alani and he totally meant to have sex with her anyway.
She's pissed because Lori Foster yet again made all of the heroines into potential victims of sex crimes or abused survivors of sex crimes or... No wait, I'm pissed about that. Alani is pissed cuz she thinks he's puking over his dislike for her. All the tender, romantic things he said the night before were obvious lies and blah blah blah sex traffickers blah chase scenes blah blah sex sex sex blah happy ending.
Anyway, on to the main reason for this review:
What is with Alpha Tough Dudez calling all women "female"? Am I crazy, or is it kinda gross and also weird. Like, if a dude was chattin' me up and was like, "lolz, females shouldn't handle guns" then... I mean, I would be out the door like a shot because I am 1. queer, 2. a feminist, and 3. scared of serial killer misogynists, but still, definitely at #4, upset and weirded out at the use of "female" for "human being."
And also: is it just me or are these private mercenaries like the worst crime fighters ever? There are just these nefarious ne'er-do-wells running all over this little town, shooting shit up, constantly forcing our heroes to run off and hide someplace really convenient for having sex in. Nobody actually prevents any crimes or figures out who they are or what they want or anything. The villain has an actual monologue at the end, to explain all of the villainy!
And then Tough Guize Inc is all like, "we totally knew the bad dudez were there and we let them think they knew we knew they knew but we totally knew and anyway we could not possibly let a female be in danger for even one second so we took all your guns away and made every decision for you". And then Tough Guy #1's wife showed up and was like "hahaha, I was also the victim of a sex crime and now I love sex so much!"
And I just can't with Lori Foster. This is not a three star book at all. But I am also feeling a lot better. -

This was my favorite of the series!! Just when I thought they couldn't get any better, along comes Jackson with his country charm & cowboy hat. He knocks the panties off of Alani & any reader of the book.
Jackson has been half in love with, watching over & protecting Alani (Trace's sister) since he started working for Dare & Trace shortly after she was rescued from her kidnappers. He is a man with baggage that he thinks is too much for any woman to look past & thinks he's not ready for a woman as a permanent fixture in his life.
Alani has been living in the aftermath of her own real life nightmare. She's trying to cope & overcome the debilitating fear that it has left her with. She meets Jackson and knows she has a strong connection & feelings, but her fear won't allow her to go any further.
Ms. Foster returns to the great mystery style plot line that made When You Dare so enjoyable for me. Throughout the book we're following along with Jackson, Alani, Trace & Dare as they try to solve the mystery of who drugged Jackson and now wants him & others dead. We are also introduced to 2 new secondary characters, Spencer & Arizona. *in my most sincere voice* Please Ms. Foster can their book be next?!?!?
Ok, now that I've finished begging...Jackson & Alani steamed up my Kindle with their love & their 4 times a day (Alani's bragging, not mine, lol) playtime sessions. I was rooting for them the entire book and loved the ending! To all of you on the fence about this series, get off and run! Run as fast as you can to Amazon or your nearest bookstore and pre-order your copy, you won't regret it!!!!!!!

Savor The Danger es el tercer libro de la saga Mercenarios, escrita por la autora Lori Foster y tiene como protagonistas a Jackson y Alani, personajes que conocemos brevemente en los libros anteriores.
Estaba muy emocionada por poder leer esta historia, ya que fue el libro que mas me llamo la atencion cuando conoci la serie, ademas en cuanto lei la sinopsis supe que seria la clase de lectura que yo disfruto mas : ligera, divertida, con dialogos que te haran reir a carcajadas y muy entretenida.
La relacion de Alani y Jackson me gusto mucho, eran una pareja con muchisima quimica ( personalmente es mi favorita de las tres que he leido por el momento ) aunque aun me queda por leer A Perfect Storm y conocer mas a Arizona y Spencer.
Quizas la unica pega que le pondria es que en los ultimos capitulos la trama decayo un poco y no fueron tan agiles de leer pero todo lo demas fue justo lo que esperaba, lo recomiendo!

I know, it sounds cliché, but I loved Jackson and his “Darlins” He could hog tie me up and have his wicked way with me all he wanted. Apparently, sweet and innocent Alani as well.
Alani Rivers, Trace’s sister, and victim of sex traffickers in the first novel, has learned some tough life lessons. No longer the sheltered, pampered little sister, she is struggling to be a grown woman, and overcome her past trauma’s. Why Jackson is the man that stirs her blood, she doesn’t know, but she wants him. When she wakes up after the most memorable night of her life and see’s the burning questions in Jackson’s eyes she is distraught and devastated when he bolts from the room and gets violently ill in the bathroom. Alani can’t take the regret she sees in Jackson, and she takes off, leaving Jackson to fend for himself.
Point here: Alani was a virgin before she made love to Jackson. I really felt for her situation. She is confused, upset, humiliated angry and yet her body is burning for more of Jackson. What’s a confused, angry girlie girl to do? Shop of course!
Jackson figures he bumbled the morning pretty heavily, and isn’t sure how to fix it. After his head stops pounding he makes his way to Alani’s house and proceeds to lie on her porch and wait for her to come back home.
After his violent episodes in the bathroom, Jackson figures out he has been heavily drugged, and cannot remember anything from the previous day and night. So he begins looking for truth, and goes in search of Alani. Together they try and piece together who is out to get Jackson and Alani, and fighting the attraction between them.
“Don’t make me chase you, darlin”
Suddenly her casual, comfy sundress felt insubstantial. Around Jackson, she needed a damn suit of Armor.
The concentrated scrutiny left her fidgeting, too warm and vulnerable.
In a rough whisper, he said “God’s truth, darlin’, I don’t mean to ride roughshod over your feelings, but I need to see you again” and before she could react to the hunger in his tone, he added, “I don’t suppose we could put this little confrontation on hold long enough for me to appease my curiosity?”
This novel was fantastic. I loved Jackson and Alani. It was fun to see Dare and Trace, and their protective and alpha maleism when it came to Alani.
There were a few twists in the story and a few new characters were introduced. Arizona, and Spencer. Whom I believe will probably be the couple for the next novel, and I can’t wait!!
Write faster Lori Foster, I’m eating up these awesome alpha’s who walk that edge so well! -

This is DNF for me. It's been sitting by my bed for a week where I couldn't bring myself to pick up and finish it. This is my first Foster book so I'm not familiar with her style of writing. The campy dialogue and even more campy contrived plot just wasn't working for me. And the characters were too cliche and trite for me. Everything was so incredibly over the top that it got distracting.
You have Jackson Savor, the stereotypical cookie-cutter version of an alpha hero. The author reminds us in every other line what a big bad Alpha he is to his core, no woman can control him, fuss over and or tell him what to do "Never would Jackson let a woman dictate to him." Cause that's wrong! Ugh. His excessive 'woman!' cave man talk just bordered on patronizing and sexist instead of sexy alpha. And I don't mind a guy talking dirty (yes please) but every other line that comes out of this guy's mouth is a sexual innuendo. It just ruined the mood and at some point I couldn't take him seriously. The guys especially in this were so over-the-top stereotypes that it was eye-roll inducing. And the heroine Alani just aggravated me with her constant squawking and screeching (author's words, not mine). Having a heroine who literally squawks and screeches when talking isn't very endearing or attractive. I wish authors would just remove those two verbs from their writing list entirely. Alani just annoyed me and confused me. She is supposed to be a 20 something sweet, independent, strong young woman who's had a thing for the hero for some time and gave up her virginity to him. Yet I just couldn't get around her prissy haughty naive attitude with a vocabulary of a woman twice her age. Using phrases like 'that's a conundrum' and 'utmost importance' just seemed really strange and read very awkward. I mean who talks like that at her age?? I couldn't get a good grasp of her.
And I wasn't crazy about the silly plot device used to keep the hero and heroine in close quarters. The opening scene starts off with both of them in bed and Jackson throwing up with no memory of the night before. *cue investigation & driving force behind the rest of the story*. Jackson and the other two ALPHAS Trace and Dare, set out to find out who is behind this. They come up the idea to have Jackson and Alani pretend they are a couple in order to lure out the bad guys behind this. Contrived much? I just didn’t see how the two things correlated. I also thought it was contrived and really lame to have Jackson's enemy come after him by slipping him drugs. If his enemy had the opportunity to come after him why not just attempt to kill him? What's with the date rape drugs? The 'suspense' of it just fell so flat for me and came off silly rather than exciting. I didn't get far enough to see where it went but it didn't interest me long enough to keep reading.
And Alani's really annoying tendency of glowering at any woman who came near Jackson like a watchdog was so over the top that it was immature and just ridiculous. What is this preschool? She would literally stand there akimbo pose and snarl & stare down other ladies who would give Jackson the once over with her ridiculous 'how dare you!' lectures and then turn around & get mad at Jackson. Who does that? That's not normal behavior or cute. In real life this girl would be labeled as unhinged with her obsessive over-the-top territorial routine. Honey, if the guy is a looker ladies are going to LOOK whether you like it or not. Men do it all the time with the ladies and vice versa. Just..ugh. She made my eyes cross at her over-dramatic reactions to the smallest things. She also couldn’t let go or get over the fact that Jackson forgot their 'hot steamy' night of sex. HE WAS DRUGGED! And I found her older brother Tate, you know, the other ALPHA with a capital A, I found his big brother protective routine annoying and extreme. She's a grown woman, cornering her and giving her the what for and asking about her sex life like she's a 15 year old was ridiculous and just too much. I understand she had a history with being kidnapped and held captive but still...a *little* too much.
I can’t say this was awful but nothing about it motivated me to keep reading. It had it’s moments with Jackson but then that annoying baby talk of his or Alani‘s harrumping would get in the way and I just would lose all interest. :( -
Uh Huh. So why does this one get a low rating compared to the previous two? It's simple. I could not relate to the h at all, and the scene near the end made me actively dislike her.
So her problem is...
Big brother has mollycoddled her since their parents died. So she's spoiled.
Big brother is a big, bad mercenary who has, over the years, made enemies.
Big brother, in his infinite wisdom, kept her in the dark as much as he could (read, defenseless)
Big brother made enemies.
Enemies, as enemies will, target vulnerabilities - spoiled little sisters who have never had to defend themselves, for example.
Upon her rescue (the beginning of the first book), Big brother wrapped her in another level of bubble wrap.
So, our h, because of her experience, is a spineless jellyfish who hates guns, violence, etc., and has not even taken the initiative to, oh I dunno, sign up for a self-defence course at the Y. Yet she doesn't want H, brother, and friend guarding her when trouble arises in the form of an enemy of the hero (who roofied him, then left when she showed up, so she got to experience the full complement there). Yeah; you don't want bodyguards hovering around, go take kung fu lessons, and stop pissing yourself at the sight of a gun.
Our H did himself no favors by coming on to her so strong near the beginning of the book (and for a woman who was so skittish about relationships, she sure jumped in the sack with him quickly after that).
And then near the end of the book, they both essentially railroad a young woman who is capable of defending herself into cowering right alongside our spineless h. I'm not sure which I dislike more - spineless heroines or chauvinistic heroes. -

Jackson Savor can’t get the beautiful Alani Rivers out of his head, but with respect to her recent trauma and being his friend, Trace’s, sister he vows to keep his distance. When Jackson wakes up in bed next to a naked Alani though, with no memory as to how he got there, all his good intentions get thrown out the window. Now he can’t stop thinking about what might have happened between them and what it would be like if it happened again, but Alani wants nothing more to do with him. When they realize Jackson was drugged though, and now someone is trying to kill him, they must work together to find out who’s behind it all. With the help of their friends and a mystery protector, Jackson and Alani embark on a dangerous journey to find the truth, will it be more then their budding relationship can handle though?
I fell in love with Jackson’s sarcastic, fun and laid back attitude in Trace if Fever, and Savor the Danger just bumped up my obsession with him! He’s passionate, protective, charming, sexy and another alpha to add to the delicious list of Foster men. His southern drawl and cowboy hat *drool* definitely had me getting all hot and bothered! Jackson's whole attitude revolves around Alani, his feelings for her and her traumatic kidnapping by human traffickers; and the internal dialogue when it came to trying to figure out a woman's mind (Alani) was hilarious and added a fun element to some emotionally tense scenes.
Alani was a great heroine as well, I loved her just as much as Molly (When you Dare); she was smart, a little quite and innocent but when it came to the important things in life she knew how to put her foot down and take a stand. The person she strives to be, and eventually grows into, is admirable and I don't think you could dislike this heroine even if you tried! Alani is innocents in a lot of ways though and Jackson handles all the hurdles with sensitivity and compassion. There were so many layers to his character and Foster revealed each one masterfully.
Jackson and Alani’s chemistry set the pages on fire and you could feel the sizzle in the air when these two got together. Pages were literally smoking in my hands when they got between the sheets!
Lori Foster pens a delicious tale with mystery and suspense, action and danger, tying in events from the first novel, When You Dare, and slowly unraveling the story of Alani’s traumatic abduction. Dealing with the real life issues of PTSD and human trafficking, you have no trouble connecting with the characters of the story and sympathizing with them. I was kept on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next.
Past characters arrived on page to help this duo out in more ways then one, and I loved seeing more of Dare *sigh* and Trace. Entertaining ‘girl talk’ between Molly, Priss and Alani had me laughing out loud and the ribbing these men give each other was priceless. The dialogue was both smart and witty. New characters were introduced as well and I cannot wait to see more of Arizona, and especially Spencer, in A Perfect Storm.
Calling all romance book junkies, you need to read this series! I was glued to every page and literally devoured Savor the Danger in no time at all. Drop what you’re reading and go get these books today! Savor the Danger is pure perfection!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that watching your partner in sexcipades run for the bathroom to vomit upon waking up and seeing you is a kick to the ol' self esteem. This is the situation in which Alani finds herself after a super hot night with Jackson; she thinks it's because he has regrets; he knows it's because he's been drugged. That much is revealed in the synopsis, but comes across much more...strongly...in the opening chapter of the book.
This setup brings up what one would hope would be logical questions. Who drugged him? Why? What ulterior motives could/do they have? Will they try again? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?
If the story were completely devoted to the resolution of those issues, I would have been okay. Not thrilled, not immediately making lists of people to send the book to, but it would have been a solid story and a thoroughly acceptable way to pass an afternoon. Instead, I felt like we were kind of bouncing around like a pinball, out of control and hopefully just arriving at the ending in one piece.
I freely admit that I don't remember many of the side plots from the second book and, presumably, the first one as well, especially the one that deals with Alani's abduction. Maybe if I did I would be able to get behind the relationship between Alani and Jackson a little more. This author can write some good sexual tension, so I'll put that as a mark in the positive column, but after the innuendo was done I didn't really find a lot that made me relate to any of the characters individually or as an ensemble.
Trace as the super overprotective big brother (Alani is his baby sister) got really annoying after awhile. Dude, regardless of every bad thing that has happened to your sister, and those things are indeed legion, she is an adult woman who has every right to pursue happiness and peace in her life, especially when she is not doing anything immoral, illegal, dangerous, or destructive. If you consider sex with one of your best friends whom you trust with your life to be any of those things then you need better friends or a little bit of self reflection. That is all.
Alani, too, despite having to overcome a kidnapping and the resulting issues (and I'm not being dismissive of those issues, don't take that the wrong way) seems to miss opportunity after opportunity to live her own life and to move into a better place in her own life. Alani grabs onto little details and events and refuses to let them go, even when confronted with a much bigger issue that should make her happier! She can't get over that Jackson doesn't remember their first night together, even though it's apparent to everyone else on the planet that Jackson is completely ga-ga for her and wants to repeat the experience every night for the rest of his life! It's the same old punishing your current lover for other people's mistakes and it gets old in a hurry.
Other than the smoldering tension between Jackson and Alani, this story didn't have a lot to recommend it. I also have to stand corrected on my statement from earlier today, apparently, where I said that this is the third book in a trilogy. According to the bit at the end, there is another book coming out featuring another couple from this universe. I don't know right now that I'll be reading it sadly.

What a great story. The premise was absolutely fabulous, gripping and funny. Alani was an interesting character, a little meek, innocent and naive but also brazen at times and bold in ways that aren't always helpful (which was interesting)
Most of all I loved Jackson. Jeepers Creepers, that man had me on a low simmer as I literally inhaled this book. His sexy dialogue just really hit a spot for me, I wasn't aware I like that sort of nearly-crass-but-more-so-blunt-and-confident dirty talk. But let me tell you that I do! Damn that boy was hot! I'm fanning myself from the memories.
The sexual tension and exploration between the two main characters was amazing. It completely lit me on fire! But I think it was mostly Jackson, without Jackson, Alani may have gotten on my nerves. The romance was so different from what we saw in book 1 and 2. And I loved that we really got to see the boys together as well as apart.
The bad-guy plot was well done with great timing. I didn't feel like these two were always running and always looking over their backs, although they had good reason to. So the story didn't feel unsettled and I really did get the impression that Jackson had control, just like his character is suppose to.
I really applaud Fosters ability write in such a way that the characters impact the reader. What I mean is that this was a suspenseful mystery and yet I didn't really feel anxious about the plot as it unfolded because I kept thinking "Jackson will take care of it, I just have to trust that Jackson knows what he's doing". No joke, that's really what I felt while reading the book. That is pretty uncommon in a suspense and I attribute that to great characterization.
I'm giving this book 5 stars because I was hanging off of every page and absolutely in love with Jackson. But I could have seen some aspects of the book unfolding in more interesting and satisfying ways. I really do wish there was some sort of development where drugged Jackson and sober Jackson overlapped on the emotional front. There was lots of talk of the physical drugged Jackson and what he did, while internally Alani dwelled on the emotional drugged Jackson and the reader was given hints when there was a whisper of the an overlap there... but it wasn't really explored further and I was really hoping it would be. Also, damn Lori Foster and her cliff hanger subplots. How could she do this to me? When is the next book coming out? That one looks to have one of the most fiery and fierce heroines we've yet to see in this series.
All in all this series is really outstanding and so far Jackson is my hands down favourite of the bunch. That being said, as far as imaginary book-boyfriends good, all the men in this series rank pretty high on my imaginary list. Foster has done an absolutely outstanding job of creating macho alpha heroes who are not annoying, sexual tension that is both believable, crafting hot as blazes and individualistic (to the characters), and tackling an uncomfortable topic but making the resulting romances feel natural not 'we're-in-a-suspenseful-situation forced'.

Savor the Danger is the third book in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series and definitely my favorite.
We first meet Alani Rivers in When You Dare after being rescued from a human trafficking ring, she is fiercely independent, mature and strong willed all the whilst still trying to overcome the emotional trauma she endured while being held captive.
Jackson Savor, an out-spoken, cocky, sexy and extremely alpha male has had a thing for Alani since meeting her; when he wakes up with her naked wrapped in his arms, he is certainly surprised but has no memory whatsoever of how she ended up there.
Alani is completely shattered when she sees Jackson’s reaction after what she believed to be a wonderful night; with him running to the bathroom to be sick and having what appeared to be regret in his eyes, she does the bolt, feeling extremely emotional and vulnerable. What she didn’t know is Jackson had been drugged, by whom; they were unsure but it was a mystery they needed to work out.
I absolutely adore the sexy alpha males in this series but Jackson is by far my favorite! I loved his sexy and at times humorous dialogue, he is a smooth talking cowboy who was hot hot hot! I loved the way he protected Alani but was still hard-edged when it mattered, they were wonderful together & the smexy scenes were great.
I enjoyed the suspense but for me it was more about the romance rather than the action which seemed to take a back-seat which I quite liked. The story moved at a quick and even pace, with an interesting and enjoyable plot.
The secondary characters are wonderful, Trace & Priss, Dare and Molly as well as Chris who I think is fantastic all make an appearance. From reading the last chapter, it appears the next book will be Spencer and Arizona as the main protagonists.
I enjoy Lori Foster’s writing style, she writes both romance and action in a way that holds my attention and keeps me wanting more.

I liked the novella "Ready, Set, Jett." When You Dare was pretty good. Trace of Fever was...beyond painful. After the disaster that was Trace of Fever, I was very wary about reading this book, despite the other two being good. Obviously I had to finish the series (or what I thought was the end to the series) and find out what happened with Jackson and Alani, but I didn't want their story to suck. I liked Jackson; I liked Alani. Plus, I just couldn't handle another train wreck like ToF. However, this book was fantastic! It didn't suck at all! Happy, happy day!
Jackson Savor is a mess of contradictions: sex fiend yet he wants one woman; bad boy but also a good boy; badass yet has a heart of gold; confident and strong yet insecure; noble, honorable, and loving, yet under the impression that he's none of those things. He's quite a head case. These endearing contradictions are what make him stand out from the other guys of this series. Don't get me wrong, I like Dare and Trace, but Jackson is so much more complex, in my opinion.
Likewise, Alani is different from the females of the series. She's much more rational and accepting of things. Sure, one could argue that she should be used to this kind of stuff because Trace is in the same life, but until she gets involved with Jackson, she's never been in the nitty gritty part of Trace's life. Despite this being her first rodeo, she is able to help Jackson and the guys instead of hinder. I think I could love her just for that alone. She was smart and practical, yet caring and sincere. Plus, she's the only heroine of this series, so far, on which I haven't wanted to inflict severe bodily injury. Despite a couple dumb moments, I actually really like her!
Arizona, on the other hand, I'm not sure about. Sometimes I hate her and sometimes I love her. She's funny at times, yet a bitch at others. She makes me want to like her, yet she also makes me want to hate her. I love when she's a brat to Spencer, but I hate when she's a brat to Jackson (and Alani). It should be interesting to read her book next.
So! After this book, my faith has been somewhat restored in the series. Because, really, I love the concept. It's all about how it's delivered, and has much to do with the characters. Here's to hoping that the next book is just as good, if not better! -
Savor the Danger is #3 in Lori Foster’s “Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor” series. This book is everything I would expect in a Lori Foster book and in a romantic suspense book – it is steamy, there is a nice romance and some decent action. The steam factor is nice, but there is substance to the story as well. The male character is instantly likeable and the female character is someone I would want as a friend. The setting is wonderful, much of the book takes place in a rural setting which is beautifully described and simply idealic.
The male main character is Jackson, unlike Dare and Trace in the first two books, Jackson is casual in dress, casual in his lifestyle and has a bad boy background. In a way, Jackson reminded me of Sam Starrett from Suzanne Brockmann’s Troubleshooter series. Alani is the female main character; she is a very likeable character and Trace’s little sister. I have liked all the female characters in this series, I have read reviews where some readers have strongly disliked either Molly (from #1 in this series) or Priss (#2 in this series), but I have enjoyed how Ms. Foster has deviated from a standard of female protagonists and female ideals – to introduce unique characters with their own agendas. Alani is no different, Alani may be tuned into the lifestyle Jackson has and thus is understanding in the need for security and privacy but she is a strong character with her own character and her own ideals. I tend to not like the virgin storyline, I just do not find it believable even in how it was set up in this book – I just can’t accept it. But it was well done and for the sake of enjoying the book, I was able to suspend my doubts and just go with the story.
One of my pet peeves in pop fiction, romantic suspense or mystery books is to read the point of view of the bad guy, I just do not like this literary device and that is used in this book – ultimately I skimmed over those parts and I do not feel like my skimming these parts sacrificed the story line.
I would recommend this book and this series for fans of romantic suspense and contemporary romance. If you are looking for a steamy romance with a strong male lead, this book will not disappoint. -
So a guy wakes up in bed with a girl he's always dreamed about. Problem is, he doesn't remember how he got there. Interesting premise, right? Especially when the guy is Jackson, who is super cute and really crazy about Alani, a woman he's been chasing for ages.
I really liked the beginning of this book. I liked how much these two were into each other even while they're trying to solve the mystery of why this happened and what her ex might have to do with it, and I thought the slow build-up between them actually having sex again was really steamy. BUT when they actually do sleep together again, it's mentioned in retrospect! It is a huge tease and a huge turn-off. At that point, things also go way off track with the mystery (it gets really convoluted), the introduction of a random character that's clearly a set up for another book, and too much time spent on characters from previous books.
I would have rated this book higher if the second half of the book lived up to the beginning, and I actually was thinking at one point "I've never read a book by this author before but I'm definitely reading another one." Now I'm not so sure.

No one does romantic suspense better than Lori Foster. This one will curl your toes, seriously. I thought I would take this one to the beach and maybe read a few chapters. I ended up finding shade just so I could finish it. Even with the ocean breeze I was hot. I didn't read the first two in the series, but that in no way ruined this one since it was easy to pick up on Alani and her world and how it collides with Jackson Savor. The story picks up on the sex trade and the evil behind it which is not an easy subject to take on, but Foster does an excellent job with something so unsavory.
Jackson is a man who can handle everything from romance to kicking butt and he meets his match in Alani. Ok, so he has a thing for strays, especially cats, but I can forgive this hunk almost anything. Alani is just as tough but has a terrible backstory and really needs the love and support she receives from Jackson even though he doesn't realize that the relationship is what his life is lacking. Rather than a true suspense, this one reads more like a mystery with a lot of heart stopping moments and some seriously hot romance. I need to go back and get the rest of the series. -
Ugh. Just couldn't make myself finish this one--I knew it was a bad sign when the first thing I'd do when turning on my ereader was check to see what page I was on and how many I had left to go--a step I repeated about every five minutes or so. Finally I just gave up...right about the time Alani, Molly, and Priss all had their cozy little how-many-times-a-day-my-guy-can-do-it talk. (Yep. 'Cause who doesn't want to have that discussion with their sister-in-law?) Just couldn't take it anymore. Not one person in it spoke, thought, or acted even remotely close to the way real human beings do. I refuse to believe that the internal thought process of an alpha male can be anything like they are depicted here. It's just not possible--I most sincerely hope. Book one was fairly good, two was eh...okay, but this one was just too much. I kept hoping that we could go a half a page at least without sex coming up, but it never happened in the 214 pages I read. I won't be waiting for book four (if there is one) from my library, that's for sure.

I have to say I think this one has been my favorite of the series so far. Even though I loved Dare and Trace, there was just something about this storyline I seemed to like more, and Jackson was just so cocky you couldn't help but fall fast for him. Where the other two storylines built up to the two characters "hooking up" this one was opposite and pretty much started with that and only seemed to get hotter and hotter. Even though Alani was more docile, I still enjoyed reading her parts. She was strong and brave in her own way, and considering what she had been through I'm not sure how else I expected her to act. I can't wait to read what sort of trouble Arizona will get herself into in the next book with Spencer. With her attitude I'm sure it will make for an interesting read.

This was the third in the series and in my opinion the very best. Loved, loved, loved it. I was a little wary after Trace's story which I didn't like much so I was very pleasantly surprised that this was so good. Jackson is to die for. Even though he had had a hard life, he was so sweet, kind and loving. I also really liked Alani. Even though she had been through a lot of trauma in story 1, she was very strong and mature for her age. Together, this couple sizzled and I loved their chemistry. Now I am anxious to read Arizona and Spencer's story. I hope it comes out soon.

Don’t make me chase you, darlin’.
As if any of us would run from Jackson! The first 2 books in this series have been enjoyable, the characters are all interesting people and it’s been a nice progression – at the end of book 1 I looked forward to book 2. At the end of book 2, I was even more anxious to get to book 3 and Jackson. Jackson blew everyone out of the water, and I fell so hard for the guy. We had a little introduction to Jackson in TRACE OF FEVER and the man does not disappoint. He makes it known pretty much from the start that he wants Alani. It’s safe to say that Alani is a bit more cautious, more wary and hesitates to start anything with Jackson at the end of book 2. Cut to the beginning of SAVOR THE DANGER and we open to one of the most entertaining scenes and a very awkward morning after for Jackson, waking up in bed with a very naked Alani and having no clue what happened the night before. He wakes up horribly sick and realizing that he was drugged leads us into their adventure of finding out who would do this and why. Jackson quickly comes to understand that while he may have been drugged, those around him, Alani and Arizona (more on her later) are in just as much, if not more danger.
One of the things that stood out most for me in this book was how relationship driven the entire story was. The suspense is there, but it played out more as a “who done it” and we go along for the ride with Jackson, Alani, Trace and Dare as they try to put the clues together. We get no real sense of who the enemy is, nothing from their POV before the final showdown, and it really helped keep the focus on Jackson and Alani, which I loved!
Jackson, I sighed (good sighs people, good!) so many times during this book. He’s the guy you want protecting you and the one you want to hug and take care of all rolled up into one delicious package. No matter how badass Jackson was being, there was always something very sweet about him, just under the surface. Publicly, he’s a man who shows people his easy-going yet always responsible, playful, flirty self. But privately, he’s a man who’s building his own home, putting down roots he didn’t even realize that he wanted, he takes in strays (of both the human and feline variety) and he comes to know pretty fast that he not only wants Alani in his life, but needs her in it.
He looked at her, and it was beyond lust. Beyond mere attraction. Beyond anything familiar.
Beyond anything comfortable.
In the past twenty-four hours, he’d run the gamut of emotions, from tormented and furious, to hot and possessive to demonstrative and…needy.
Shit.
Alani struggled after her capture and rescue to just feel comfortable in her own life again. Jackson brings her back to life, helps her feel and they proved to be a perfect match.
My Chris love still burns bright and strong, and it was great having all the characters back and playing strong roles, but this book was Arizona’s introduction and she makes a big impact. Without going into spoiler territory, she’s in Jackson’s life and she’s someone that causes him a bit of anxiety (and heartburn, she’s a feisty one!) when he wonders how exactly to explain their history to Alani, but she worked her way into Jackson’s heart and I have no doubt she’ll do the same to readers as well. I can't wait to get her story.
SAVOR THE DANGER gets 4 big stars – Jackson and Alani had me laughing, sighing, and cheering for them from the start. -

Realmente esta serie me ha gustado. Reconozco que quizá no es la mejor serie de contemporánea que he leído, y rivaliza mucho con el KGI de Maya Banks, está claro, pero me han gustado mucho los pèrsonajes y también el tono de la autora. Cuando leí Emociones Secuestradas, el primero de la saga, gracias a Nikki tuve claro que tenía que leer esta serie y que me iba a gustar seguro. Me gusta el modo de narrar de la autora, me gustan sus personajes y me suelen gustar bastante este estilo de libros. Además, como en los otros libros conoces a los que van a ser protas en estos libros... pues te dejan con el gusanillo de saber con quién va a acabar cada uno y que te cuenten su historia.
"—Oye —como si intuyera lo que estaba pensando, Jackson le dio un beso en la frente y luego en el puente de la nariz. En el mismo tono que la noche anterior añadió—: Eres muy guapa, Alani. Eres preciosa —rozó su oreja con la boca—. Por todas partes.
Con la cara colorada, se sacudió las ganas de llorar, el miedo y la angustia de su secuestro, y su malestar por lo ingenua que había sido la noche anterior.
—Gracias —Dare había matado a sus secuestradores y su hermano estaba centrado en destruir a todos los traficantes de personas. Ya no estaba con aquellos hombres. Estaba con Jackson—. También dijiste que era muy dulce.

El argumento, como ya he dicho, es verdad que es un tanto predecible, pero a mí no me ha hecho disfrutar menos de la novela, al contrario. Además, que no haya momentos de ruptura entre ellos, ni tira-y-afloja, ni histerismos, me ha parecido maravilloso. No hay meses de diferencia conforme avanza su relación, cierto, pero eso no quiere decir que sea un 'insta-love' cogido por los pelos. Hay mucho humor y muchísima tensión desde un principio.Que se fueran añadiendo personajes secundarios que le iban dando coherencia a la obra, creo que la complejidad y un punto más. A parte la cronología tiene sentido, si bien es cierto que las cosas pasan con cierta "rapidez", aunque los propios protagonistas lo dicen y dejan claro que es algo "un tanto difícil de tender, pero oye, les pasa". Y bueno, ese final.. era esperado, pero es bueno, es "lo que tiene que ser".

Son personajes que conoces de antes. La historia entre ellos me ha gustado y me parece correcta, pero esta vez no ha conseguido atraparme como la otra. Ha sido un poco decepcionante, pero tampoco creo que sea un mal libro.
Para mí la problemática que está teniendo Foster ahora es que le veo ciertas cosas que antes no había visto, que me sacan de la lectura. Luego hay momentos en que me dan bastante igual, y hay demasiados componentes yankis que obviamente tienes que aceptar en este tipo de novela, pero que no son de mi top. Además quizá el buen recuerdo de ello no ha ayudado a que ahora me gustara más, ya que la diferencia entre lo que creía que iba a leer y lo leído como que se ha notado más. -

As you may know by now, I love these guys and Jackson best of all! This series has great plot lines, witty banter and amusing angst along with the interplay of previous characters. Jackson is so wonderful, funny, honest and loving that his cockiness and rudeness only enhance his appeal.
We first met Jackson in Trace of Fever when he was called in to help protect Priss. Since then, the big gorgeous hunk of cowboy has been watching Alani. His intentions may have started out as honorable, but his lust for her has changed everything. With Alani having just recovered from her trauma and the small fact that she is his boss’s sister, Jackson needs to tread lightly where angels fear to go.
Of course, Alani is no angel. She has lusted after Jackson for about as long as she has known him. Finally, when he calls her begging her to come over, she shows up on his doorstep where the two finally succumb to their shared passion. (Five, count 'em five times!) In the light of day, too many questions arise: what happened, who drugged him, why are they doing it and who do they really want, Jackson or Alani or someone else?
I could go on and on about all the sections that I loved, but I hate to give spoilers. Suffice it to say, I loved the steamy bits peppered with fun, humor and genuine love; I loved the interplay between Jackson and Trace (acting the overprotective brother); and I especially loved Alani experiencing the full package that is Jackson Savor.
The prequel, Ready, Set, Jett found in the anthology ‘ The Guy Next Door’ and When You Dare (fabulous gorgeous cover man) are in stores now with Trace of Fever released at the end of May. You will want to read these first three stories and then rush out to pick up Savor the Danger in June. Enjoy! -
Jackson has wanted Alani since he first set eyes on her, and now he is more determined than ever to have her. Problem is he wakes up next to her naked and so it seems he has already had her, but the problem is that he can't remember it. Alani is still recovering mentally from her kidnapping, and hasn't felt compelled to trust any man beyond her brother Trace and his friend Dare. Too bad Jackson is a temptation that she just can't resist though, and despite his overly sexual banter he is proving to be quite sweet underneath all his bravado. They are forced into hiding from an unknown potential threat to them both. Things are going to steam up pretty fast!
Wow doesn't even begin to cover it!
I honestly didn't think things could get much better after reading Trace's book, but I was happy to be completely wrong! I fell totally in love with Jackson! He's the perfect alpha male with the right combination of sex appeal, humor, whit, and strength. What surprised me was the depth of his emotions, and his insecurity where her love for him was concerned. No matter how much of a bad ass he feels he is, we get to see the real side of him that is tender and loving.
Anyway... I could go on and on about how wonderful this book is, but just suffice to say that it is more than worth the read! Lori has yet to ever disappoint me! I'm really excited to read the next one! My only complaint...that I have to wait so long to read the next book!

When I started this book I wasn't really fond of Jackson. I didn't like how he talked to Alani. To me he was just plain rude. So I really didn't expect to like this book a whole lot. I am happy to say that Jackson was not at all like I expected, he even won me over with his oddball charm by the end of the book.
I found it so ironic with the scene that the book opened up on. Jackson has had a thing for Alani for a long time, so when he woke up in bed with her naked with him and not remembering anything, well...it had me laughing. I really loved how Alani gave him a hard time, any woman would be upset, but with her it was even more. I also loved how Trace and Dare were so protective of her later. Dare's questions in particular had me laughing at Alani's reaction.
The whole thing with Marc for me was just filler, although Jackson going after him buck naked was good for some laughs. As was the "wives" discussions about sex.
Jackson and the way he is made a ton more sense when we learned of his past. I wasn't too sure just what trouble the situation with Arizona would bring. At times it was just too much, yet it also spoke to what Jackson stands for and why he has the same mission as Dare and Trace.
At times I wondered about the relationship between Alani and Jackson. Up to this time she had been very protected, but she seemed to accept things with him very fast, going from virginal to nypho in no time flat.
I am hoping there will be more within this series as they are fun to read! -
LOL - Lori Foster and I must think alike, except where her heroine is named Alani my villainess is named Alani. Picture Liv Tyler's Arwen gone bad, very bad! Weird to be reading about an Alani being blonde - and NICE!
Anyhow, I adored this book - enough to go back and grab Trace's and Dare's stories. Yeah, I know - backward as usual...
Jackson awakens with his boss's sister in his arms - and no memory of the night before. Or the day before. Amnesia is never a good thing for a mercenary with too many secrets to hide, and too many enemies. He needs to find out who did it and why. The problem is, Alani wants to HELP. And he'd do anything to keep her safe.
The evil of human trafficking comes to the forefront, along with a villain who comes back from the dead. Lori Foster's softness for rescuing stray cats plays an integral part, and a new couple - Arizona and Spencer - are introduced. (I can't WAIT for that one to come out. Those two ROCK!)
It was amusing to watch Trace and Dare have to come to grips with Alani being, not just their baby sister, but a woman - a grown woman with needs that are more than a match for Jackson's...enthusiasm. Jackson's a mix of bad-boy and mush (recall stray cat reference?) and there's NOTHING I like better than a bad ass with a code of honor and a (reluctantly) open mind. Sexy as hell!
You have GOT to join me in reading this series - but do it right and read them in the RIGHT order! -
