With a failed marriage in her past because of her inability to lose weight, 30-year-old teacher Autumn Walker gave up on love. She channeled all her energies into helping her students succeed. However, her hopes and passions are roused when she spots a drop-dead gorgeous hunk at a condo association meeting. But what are the chances that the sexy, hard-bodied Native American hunk surrounded by slender, sexy women will even notice the shy, passionate, full-figured Autumn? With the sharp edge of grief of losing his beloved wife dulled, Seneka Elkhorn is ready to date again. He's never been fond of pole-thin women with long, fake hair he dare not touch and who are too liberated to find submission to their man sexy. In Autumn he sees a woman with whom he can rediscover love and who will delight in being woman to his man. But convincing Autumn he wants a serious relationship will take patience and perseverance.

Autumn is a full figured divorcee trying to deal with the emotional abuse her ex-husband dished out. Seneca is a widower of two years who is reluctantly attracted to Autumn. Sounds like it could be a good story right? Wrong.

I'm not sure I've ever gone from sympathizing with a character to wanting to tear my hair out over her ridiculous behaviour so quickly. Autumn swung wildly between wanting Seneca to declare his undying love to shouting at him that he was pushing for too much to fast when he made his intentions and desires for a long-term relationship clear, then went crying to her sister when he'd get frustrated and walk away for a day or two, then get bitchy about HIS wishy-washy behaviour towards her when he'd call her again. Wait, what? 'Scuse me while I get checked for a concussion from all the headdesking.

Seneca wasn't a whole lot better. He went from suave seducer to weeping widower to jealous creeper to caveman asshole to groveling would-be lover in under ten seconds.

And the dialogue! Dear lord. I already dropped this book in bag of stuff to sell at HPB and I'm not willing to go digging it out to post exact examples. Needless to say, if I never see the term "hot sausage" in reference to a penis again, it'll be too soon. >_<

Weirdly, I finished this in one sitting, even though I'm reading several awesome books right now. It was a compulsion. I had to see what stupid argument they'd get into next. They didn't even resolve their issues until the last few pages of the book. Then their engagement was glossed over in a few paragraphs, they got married and he got a bj. That was it. As long as they're yelling at each other these characters are interesting, but as soon as they are happy, we're not supposed to really care about them anymore? Sorry, doesn't work that way for me.

EDIT: Forgot to mention Seneca's brother. Totally fucked up situation there. Big bro Braden has a thing for BBW's too, and took Autumn out after Seneca proposed to her, wined, dined, danced and spent over $5K on her in a day, tongue kissed her, all the while telling her how awesome his brother is and how lucky they were to be in love with each other. WTF? I'm still not sure if it was a test or what, especially since he's got the hots for his assistant at work.

Even crazier, Seneca, who has gone stalker-creepy at the mere thought of other guys even looking at Autumn, said she and his brother should fool around. Just to get their attraction to each other out of their systems, because once she agreed to marry him, he wouldn't let her cheat on him anymore. I'm still trying to digest that one.

This book was okay, not great. The interracial romance is between an Afro-American woman and a Native American man, who supposedly love full figured women. I didn't know that.

Seneka is tall, handsome and lives in Autumn Walker's condo complex. She fresh from a divorce in which her ex did not like her body or full figured women's bodies.

The romance was okay, as I said above. Seneka was just in such a hurry to get married and start having kids, and he didn't really know her. His wife died a while back and he was so ready to jump back on the saddle again.

Autumn was very self conscious about her body, which turned me off. Not everyone can be skinny. She didn't want to undress in front of him or do anything where he could see her naked body. I understand that part, if you've been with a husband who was uncaring and harped about every curve, but she took it to the limit for me. They pushed each other away and pulled each other back so many times with ridiculous, flaky stuff, I wanted to pluck my eyebrows with a butcher knife.

But what was a real turn off was Autumn supposing to be this shy woman who was trying to get back into a relationship and find herself beautiful through Seneka's eyes enough to be naked in front of him but the author put an attraction between her and Seneka's brother, Brayden. Uh, NO.

Another WTF moment was Seneka telling her to GO FOR IT, go do some heavy petting with my brother, but don't go too far, okay, just kiss and do everything short of sex and get it out of your system before we are married. WHAT? Uh, NO #2.

Yet ANOTHER WTF moment was Brayden taking Autumn out, wining and dining her, spending huge gobs of money on her and her not thinking ONCE that this was a little weird? He keeps going, making flirty comments to her and she acted like she wasn't even picking up on what he was trying to do (like get in her pants). He kept saying he respected his brother and would never cross the line but that's what he was trying to do - CROSS THE LINE. Autumn needed a dunce cap. Uh, NO #3.

I mean who does that? I didn't understand that part of the book. It was like a sharp detour into territory that seemed off to me.

Could have been better, but that's just me.

This is a book about a guy who "loves lots of curves" and a woman who needs to hear about it. Nonstop. Incessantly. On repeat.

I was in the mood for a a smokin' hot read with a man who knows what he wants and pursues it. The synopsis made me think this was it, and maybe it is. But errr...first chapter, all I got is a borderline offensive lead in with this woman comparing and fantasizing about this man as to how he looks like the indian warriors in her favorite "capture novels". She does that a lot. He mentions the fact that women do it a a lot. I don't. I wouldn't. That would be akin to having some chick fantasize about being held captive by spear chucking natives. At least it would be for me, so ya-that rubbed me the wrong way too. So ANYway, what you really need to know is that this man loves his curves, this woman was burnt by her ex who did NOT love "lots of curves" tells him about it in the first sit down conversation and proceeds to egg him into professing his love for "lots of curves" endlessly. That's all their conversation consisted of. Oh, and the fact that he's still in love with his dead wife (who also had lots of curves) but since its been two years, he DECIDED to move on. He flips out some pics of dead wifey too. Not joking.

    DNF.

OMG!!! That's all I kept thinking as I read this book. Seneka was so over the top. A few reviewers found Autumn annoying but I thought Seneka was the problem in this relationship. Yes, we get that he married young and was married for most of his adult life but DUH! How do you not give a woman you're interested in your phone number, apartment number, etc when you first meet her and are interested in her?

The fact that he was pressuring her to marry him and couldn't understand her reason for not wanting to yet was unbelievable. It was nice to see the couple go through ups and downs but a lot of it was ridiculous, especially Braden hitting on Autumn (because that's what he did). Then that phone call where he calls her all those horrible names.

I enjoyed the ludicrousness (is that even a word?) of the story. It made me laugh out loud and the ludicrousness of the scenes. Here's an example . . . I can understand why Kelli would write a letter to Seneka asking him to love again but to what purpose on earth would she give this new woman in his life $250,000???? That made no sense to me whatsover.
