I CAN MAKE YOU SLEEP[TP] Reviews

This excellent book was a life saver for me. I turned to it when I was in despair after several months of insomnia, after having tried and failed with all sorts of other solutions. Was initially sceptical that the rather cheesy sounding recording would have an effect, but I listened to it at bedtime, as instructed, and it began to make a difference after three or four nights. It totally broke the spell of the insomnia. The book has lots of useful exercises, too. I now return to the book and the recording if ever I have trouble with sleeplessness, and it always helps. Highly recommended.

Over the years I have gone through periods of not being able to sleep, or even worse, going to sleep for a few seconds out of every few minutes, then waking up again.
Obviously this is maddening and exhausting, and I was getting utterly desperate and would eventually have bought the book even if it had been much expensive. But as the book was less than a tenner and included a CD, I thought it was worth a try.
It didn't produce an instant and permanent fix for my insomnia, but it definitely did improve my sleep patterns (and therefore my life!) dramatically.
It's about three years since I started listening to the CD, and most of the time it will put me to sleep within a few seconds. I hardly ever get to hear the end of it. And just as useful for me, when I do wake up again during the night, I don't get anxious about it and think, "Waaaah it's 03:30 in the morning and I won't be able to get to sleep again now, and by the time I get up for work I'll be a zombie". Instead I think, "Well, I reckon I'll be able to get a few hours' sleep between now and getting up, because 99% of the time that's what happens", and then I put the CD on and go to sleep. Hooray, and thanks Paul!
The other secret of my success has been to buy a 'Pillow Talk' speaker, which plugs into the CD or MP3 player etc, and goes underneath my pillow. That way I can listen to it without disturbing my husband, and without having to put earphones in my ears. -
Was sleeping badly for 5 months. I wouldn't say it's alright now, but I think (hope?) I'm on the mend. Tried everything, from Rescue sprays to the Napiers remedy to the occasional Nytol, to prescription pills for a week and none of these really help. The first time I heard the CD was at 5 in the morning after being unable to sleep the whole night, and I fell into a very deep sleep before having to wake up in a few hours. The second time was last night, listened to it at 2 am.
And wow. Just wow. Mid way through, I could hear his voice but as though from very far away, the kind of feeling you get when you're at a party and you're just absolutely dropping off, and everything sounds so distant and echo y. I started dreaming, even though I was still somewhat conscious. It was only when I realised how deep and relaxed my breathing had gotten that I discovered that I'd finally found something that seems to work. Thrilled. Even though I had to sort of wake up to switch off the laptop (which was playing the CD), I wasn't tossing and turning the whole night. I didn't have a long beautiful deep restful sleep, but it was still better than I've been getting for months, so I'm grateful.
To all insomniacs, GIVE THIS A TRY.
It's really soothing and nice, and at the very least makes you feel as though some friendly, caring presence is there with you, gently coaxing you into restfulness. It's very strange but the CD involuntarily brought back my happier childhood memories, made me think of random, insignificant but pleasant times which were stress free. -
"I can make you sleep". No you can't.
Large font means the book has little substance. Text culled from other people's previous work. The so called hypnotic CD is just plain weird and Paul McKenna's slowed down and deepened voice just seems almost like a parody of hypnosis. Not recommended at all. -
I bought this because I've been suffering anxiety caused insomnia not being able to get to sleep, and have been on a short prescription of sleeping tablets. This was an 'I'll try anything' purchase. My expectations were high (an anxiety thing!) and so I uploaded the enclosed CD onto my iPod and gave it a go. I listened every night for about two weeks and sometimes I drifted off during the CD (I think the pill did that, to be honest) and when I went drug free I just lay awake. I don't really think the CD hypnotises, rather it helps you to forget about trying to get to sleep. The book makes a lot of sense and I enjoyed reading it. The sections about sleep cycles were informative and interesting. Just don't expect this book or CD to cure. It really just distracts. Good luck.

Pretty useless book really. I like Paul McKenna and I'm sure he's a very nice, worthy person but this book was one of those self help books that was just trading on his reputation. I don't think he put much effort into it less than I did trying to find something worthwhile in it. I didn't learn a single thing here that I couldn't have found for free on the internet and the CD was utterly useless. I found many far superior free recordings off YouTube that put me to sleep in a twinkle whereas Paul's recording sounded like a very long infommercial (you can listen to it for free on YouTube, in case you thought you'd be getting something extra special with the book). I'm selling this on second hand because otherwise it's just collecting dust. I'll collect my sleepy fairy dust elsewhere.

The rest required some change and self discipline for me to alter some of my habits. Dropping the reading in bed was probably the hardest thing to do; I had already cut alcohol and caffeine. I now turn off the television and read downstairs before getting ready for bed. If I feel snoozy in the daytime, I do something active rather than sit down. My sleep has improved considerably and I have fewer interrupted nights. I still tend to awaken very early by 5am but I get up rather than lie in bed. Occasionally I sleep longer, which is a great bonus.
The techniques in the book are worth taking time to learn (something to do with that hour after the TV is off!)as they are helpful to resolving a stressed mind. I feel a lot relaxed about my sleep situation and generally refreshed and sprightly in the morning. I put this down to the CD, which I have only occasionally managed to hear in its entirety. I find it very relaxing and the benefits increased as I played it every night for a fortnight.
This programme isn't a quick fix and does take some effort to follow worthwhile though, if changing your sleep is a high priority for you. I am surprised at the title of the book, as I don't think that anything is going to work for everyone. -
Paul McKenna books are pretty phenomenal. I haven't really had much faith hope all believe in hypnosis however I was having a lot of insomnia, nightmares and not sleeping as soon as I read his book, his processes (yes some are possibly general knowledge, but not all of us in this world have general knowledge!) But I can honestly say when listening and reading his book I had amazing night sleeps. I think i need to revisit this book as I've slightly lost the way and I'm not sleeping again. which proves that it does work when you put in to practice what he says and listen to his hypnosis.

This is the second purchase of this CD that I have purchased the first one worked a treat At the time of buying I had tried just about everything and was desperate to give up Zopiclone. Within a few weeks I was sleeping normally again. I then passed on my Cd and book to a friend. More recently I was suffering severe jet lag and in desperation purchased another , by the second night I was sleeping normally. Would highly recommend. What's to lose except the curse of insomnia.

I have had trouble sleeping for years. It takes me ages to drop off, then I will only sleep for an hour (ish) before I wake up again. This has been getting worse as I get older. In desperation I bought Paul McKenna I Can Make You Sleep. I read the book as instructed and downloaded the cd on to my MP3. When I went to bed that first night, I switched it on and tried not to giggle. I was asleep before the track had finished. It is only 21 minutes long! I listened to it every night for 10 nights. This was 3 weeks ago. I have had 2 bad nights in the last 3 weeks, these can both be attributed to too much sugar or caffeine in the evenings. If I find my sleep pattern slipping I will listen to him again. I wish I had bought this years ago. (I also wish I had given up smoking with Paul rather than with patches!) Anyone who can't sleep should try it, it's a lot healthier and ultimately cheaper than sleeping tablets, be them herbal or prescription!
