  Finally, the whole XIII series is being publishing in English (and in the US). Cinebooks has taken on the task of printing this series, with a new volume every 3 4 months. And they are coming to the US a little later after being published in the UK. At this time, 14 volumes are out.The previous volume moves the storyline in a different direction now that the "Conspiracy of the XX" ended with v12, but builds on what was left in the previous albums. This album continues the action from that one.For some strange reason, Cinebooks did not republish the 13th volume, which is "XIII Mystery: The Investigation", which is about 2 reporters who do an overview of the mystery, expanded on it. This is troublesome, because this album is hinted at in this volume AND a brother of one of the reporters is introduced.Frank Giordino, the corrupt NSA head, is trying to cover up his guilt at killing the President by blaming XIII. As part of this, he tries to confuse things by claimed that XIII is "really" someone else, a former IRA operative who trained under Castro.But XIII escapes thanks to the efforts of Irina, a former associate of The Mongoose, who has turned his organization into an international assassination group. She wants revenge against XIII, and uses an NSA double agent to do this. XIII takes advantage of this, and escapes, now being tracked by both the NSA and Irina's people. This album continues this, as XIII's friends in South America (the General, Major, Col Amos, and even the Marque) work to get him out of the US. XIII is even able to turn the NSA double agent to helping him, when her life is threatened by her former allies.XIII is able to get out of the US, and join up with his friend in Costa Verde, but it looks like they may be in hot water due to pressure from the US government on the new Costa Verde government.We'll have to see how this turns out in the next 2 albums.

  I am a long time comic book lover and this series has it all! Great storyline, fabulous art and a mystery which haunts us all. Who are we? I started a while back with Day of the Black Sun and am now waiting for the 16 volume to arrive. It is very rare that a comic book can hold my attention these days, but it is almost like watching a movie unfold. I will be very sad when it ends, I just hope it is a really really cool ending.
