I got this book as part of my social work degree studies. This book really helped set the scene of the issues faced by transgender people in day to day life but also the euphorias of coming out as who you are. While I don't identify as trans, I felt very comfortable reading it and not intrusive which made it appealing to pick up again and again. The way it is written is very light and humorous despite the heavy and emotional topic that transgender can be. For someone who doesn't like reading too much, I completed this book without feeling it dragged on and very inspired after I did so. Thank you very much for educating me :)

While I did not understand that I was transgender until in my 30s I found many experiences that I shared in this book and I found that very validating. Obviously everyone's experiences are different and Mia did make sure to specify that but I think this book is well worth reading even if your experiences differ. If you're trans, you should probably read this. If you're questioning you should definitely read this. If you love someone trans you should read this too. Basically, everyone should read this.

Mia's biography is a great resource for younger trans or questioning folk, about what it's like to realise and come out in modern days. She has a lovely, friendly and approachable style and crams a lot of information into a very readable format. If you think this book might help you, it probably will. It's than worth your money.

Being a pre transition trans woman, and given this was my first book on the subject, I don't think I've ever related to anything as much as I have this. It was strange seeing what was written in the first half of the book so accurately reflect my own experiences growing up.There was a lingering doubt in the back of my mind that I was trans, and this book has completely silenced it.I find myself so strongly motivated to get my transition rolling now, with this seemingly to be the final nudge I needed. I really loved it.

Reading this book gave me the strength I needed to stop putting off coming out as trans to my mother and just do it.It is a touching, heartfelt account that is also very informative, and I am glad that I read it.
