The Art of Mesoamerica (World of Art) Reviews

Slightly damaged on the corner

I'm very disappointed on your Art of Mesoamerica Book, I got it from USA and I don't think I had ever get a book so bad printed in my entire life. It look liked it was copied with a Xerox machine. I do not know if you keep eyes on the sellers but if the book is being sold by USA, this copy is killing Thames and Hudson reputation. The book is a scam, you are getting a bad xeroxed copy of a possibly OK book. So disappointed

Fake book not original edition !!! It’s a copy en lack and white and so bad quality
Sometimes impossible to read as the copy seems to fade !!!
I want my money back -
This book would benefit from a serious editorial review. The language is almost deliberately obtuse. The cover pages indicate there are color and black and white figures; there are no color figures and the black and white figures are very fuzzy and unclear. I had to look up any figure referenced by the instructor on line to see detail. Very poor quality text book and I seriously do not recommend it.

Ordered this book to use for an art history class and turned out to be the worst purchase ever. More than half of my classmate and I bought our books from here and are now regretting it. I have no issue with the content but the quality of print is absolutely horrible and unacceptable. I can not make out a single image in the entire book and will most likely have to track down another copy that is in color. There was no indication before buying if it was in black and white or color. Publisher should be ashamed of this scam.

The author tends to go on rants mentioning artifacts and sites as if there were illustrations to anchor the descriptions; often times, there are, but a significant number of times there aren't. The descriptions are fine, but without the anchoring and often without delving into the cosmological significance of the items, the reader is constantly left to his own devices to fill in the gaps with wikipedia (sadly), google images, and academic journals. I would definitely recommend revamping this book significantly.

The 1 star is simply for 's version of this book. Whole interior of the book is a badly photocopied black and white version on cheap paper versus the real glossy paged color edition. This being a text for one of my favorite areas of study in art history means high quality images are an absolute necessity. I immediately returned the copy I purchased here for one from a brick and mortar store.

Love this book, informative, lots of pictures with semi glossy pages, highlighting recommended

This is a black and white photo copy of the book. No actual color pictures although it mentions color pictures. The quality lacks. I received it with a couple bent pages although it is marked as new. I wouldn’t care about all this but the fact it is advertised as something it is not changes everything!
