PLANET OMAR: PLANET OMAR 5 Reviews

My now 8 year old has been reading the Planet Omar series since he was 6. He enjoyed it starting at that age and has continued to love it. He is a very good reader so the reading level was moderate for him at age 6 and is easy now but not so that he would lose interest. His only complaint is that he has to wait for the new books in the series! But that’s a good complaint to have. I think this can easily be enjoyed by kids of any age up to around age 10. The best thing for me about this book is that both parents and kids can enjoy it together. The humor is so unexpected and appeals to us parents as well when Omar talks about the funny little things that happen at home with his family. And our kiddo doesn’t even realize he’s learning but there is so much fun science learning happening, particularly in this last book in the series. I’ve heard there’s going to be a television show in a year or two? We really truly hope this happens! Cannot wait for the next book in the series, too!

There’s lots to like in the Omar books for adults as well as children! The storyline is always full of fun but also has some serious messages about being kind and doing the right thing for the right reason. Science features strongly and it was good to see some strong female characters involved in scientific experiments here when the gang get the chance to build the best rocket out there alongside other young scientists. Very funny, some toilet humour but completely engaging throughout due to Omar and his friends and family

This is a brilliant book, especially for boys who can sometimes be reluctant readers. My new year five class asked me for some and improved books for their reading corner next term and I was delighted when this came up for review. I am sure they will find it entertaining and engaging and it is well written. Anything that will encourage children of the sage to read this fantastic. The cover is eye catching and attention grabbing as are the illustrations. Well done!

Meet main character Omar and his friends who decide they want to take part in a rocket building competition with the best prize ever for the winners. They refuse to be beaten. Alas there is bullying along the way and a few tricks and cheating but can they do it? A brilliant read for younger children. Beautifully illustrated throughout. A well deserved four stars.
