The Magical Power of the Saints: Evocation and Candle Rituals Reviews

This is my second copy, made a mistake of lending out the first one, This book is really great if you want to learn about different saints and stuff. Came in perfect condition will recommend to everyone.

Being that the book is called Magical Power of Saints I thought the book would go in depth about each mentioned Saint. Nope! Not in depth at all actually the book didn't even give a paragraph or a few sentences for each Saint. It talked about other magical practics then it did talk about Saints. I didnt want the book for that as I already have enough magick books! Actually Voodoo Hoodoo Spellbook gave in depth info about the different Saints.

I admit that I unexpectedly discovered the existence of the title of this kindlebook that is The Magical Power of the Saints by Ray T Marlbrough by the February 2020 timeframe after seeing it featured on the Original Products Botanica website. Info on the angelic saints, a section pertaining to one’s spiritual life and ancestors including prayers, discussion of a certain spiritual text, ritual components and alternatives, bibliography, resources for further reading etc. The one caveat is that a reader might have to look elsewhere for information on celestial spirit guides.

The book The Magical Power of the Saints: Evocation and Candle books was an interesting read. It was just what it states its about. The book focuses on Saints and candle magic and nothing else. THis book never claims to be Hoodoo or anything than working with saints which is excellent. Its a great introduction guide for working with saints and gaining spiritual knowledge from the practice of working with saints.
Before I read this book I knew about maybe two or three saints. I knew of Saint Joan of Arc, Saint Jude, and Saint Paul. This book while not providing detailed information about the saints provides information on 74 different saints that can be worked with for spiritual and practical gains in our lives. The information provided is direct and to the point.
This book contains 11 different chapters. Each of the chapters focuses on a different aspect of what the author calls popular religiosity or the working of religio magic or magic with the saints. The topics of the chapters are varied but provide a cohesive system for working with saints.
The book gets started right away in the first chapter by talking about working with saints and deities. The author begins by telling you a bit about how ancient pagans gave offerings to deities and spirits when asking for something. The author then goes on in to how the saints started to have the same roles and practices used with them. This is popular religiosity. From there he gives a list of saints some with images and some without with their associations, colors, and what they are patrons of. You can start formulating your work right away.
The second chapter deals with the practice of divination before doing any sort of working. Now this is not just about telling things based on as they appear with the cards or tool used. This discussion of divination includes finding out what sort of offerings to give, blocks in the way of the working, and the proper saints and spirits to work with. This chapter also discusses the importance of the diviner priest to know magic and divination.
The third chapter focuses on ancestors and the dead. The author explains how prayers to the ancestors can work with a biblical verse. The author then talks about a concept called the Mighty dead which is found in various traditions of witchcraft. He relates this concept to working with saints and ends the chapter with a prayer you can offer to your ancestor for working with them.
The fourth chapter is all about working the candles. Here we get our first taste of the type of work that is ahead of us. The author goes into the history of candles in magic and prayer. The majority of the chapter focuses on several different types of candles and their uses for work. The chapter ends with a ritual of transformation
The fifth chapter is really three chapters together. This chapter focuses on reading the signs in the candles as they burn, several different candle spells, and oils for working the candles. This is the spell and correspondence section of the book and provides different spells and rituals for basically every need.
The sixth chapter focuses on the use of the psalms in the bible. The author doesn't go into a discussion about the use of the psalms merely states that they are a historical magical use. The author then provides a list of the different psalms that can be used in spells and candle work for various needs. They are grouped by need or use in numerical order.
The seventh chapter focuses on aspects of ritual. Here the author talks about incenses, baths, and washes. These are components of different magical practices that can be obtained and add benefit to the other workings. Here the author introduces the concept and how to be ware the costs of those selling washes, baths, and the like.
The eighth chapter is all about putting the practices together. Here the author talks about working with planetary hours on the days. The author also includes arch angels and the hours and items they can be petitioned for. The author also includes ideas on how to make prayer beads and work effective magic that way.
The ninth chapter is about becoming a diviner priest or priestess. Here the author goes into the training that is required to become a diviner priest or priestess. the author also provides a simple but also diverse divination style that a diviner priest or priestess may need to be familiar with in order to complete their training.
The tenth chapter of the book is all about the church that the author is a reverend of. The author includes photo copied images of his certifications to prove he can teach what he teaches and is what and who he says he is.
The last chapter in the book is a final set of advice. Here the author gives a final bit of advice for when seeking the help of a professional root worker, witch, or what ever. Not everyone who offers these services is what they say they are.
All in all the author provided a good basis to start delving into your own work with saints and angelic spirits. While there could have been lore provided for the various saints and information about the herbs and incenses and oils, the book will get you started on the path of working with saints and angelic forces. When you combine this work with the recommended reading list the author provides then enough sources and information to begin feeling comfortable in these practices. -
More hoodoo than about the saints. The saints are a very brief mention which I found strange considering the title. Still has a lot of info even if you aren’t a beginner. Definitely an enjoyable read. Title is just misleading. If you are looking for a book with a wealth of knowledge on the saints and magic then keep looking this isn’t it. If you want to brush up on your hoodoo then this is for you. It’s hoodoo without the authors constant backstory, which was honestly a nice change.

A great book to readEasy to use and to understand I like I would recommend this book for practitioners who practice witchcraft voodoo i like that there are other books Mentioned in the text I like that the explanations by doing rituals are explained in a good way easy way and it’s easy to understand what needs to be done or how it needs to be done I truly like that and appreciate this book very much I bought this book in Kindle form and I have this book in paper form as well I would recommend this book for all petitions for all practitioners who practice some type of magic

This is a great book for information on important saints and folk religion. It was done by a reputable authority on the subject and established publisher. The old saws of lending, theft or elements are how so much of our personal titles on many subjects were lost, and this was still affordable.

Some of the information isn’t what I was taught. Don’t know if I was misinformed or the book is? Might want to cross reference the info? However it was full of interesting information, although it didn’t go into great detail a bit about each Saint it was a good starting point to learn about Saints. You can also do research if you find any of these Saints interesting

The Magical Power of The Saints is a good book as a starting point for both modern pagans and Mystically inclined Traditional Christians. It has good information on a selection of saints and focuses on the saints as they are in catholic Christian traditions and folk Christian beliefs with a big focus on seven day vigil candles,(which are very expensive if you ask me!) A good book for starting an exploration into folk and mystic Christianity and even further exploration into Santeria. My only criticism is that the book is typical of most of Llewellyn published books and dose not seem factually correct in some of the statements made about early Christianity and its relationship with the ancient faiths it encountered. The book also is biased in terms of its research and bibliography in that the only alternative reading given or references made are from other Llewellyn published books and seems to 'plug' and hard sell these in the body of the text. It would have been better if the author had researched into Christian history and Folk Christian practices to at the very least give references to back up his statements. It would also have been nice to have had some images of saints for example the image of the Child of Atocha is missing; and to have some traditional Catholic or folk christian prayers and invocation accompany the images. Over all the book has some basic information that can be useful in a spiritual exploration and relationship with the saints if you can get passed Llewellyn advertising, probable historical inaccuracies and also ignore the whole chapter on the validity of the authors own non denominational spiritualist church!

A very useful and well written book. Spells include the simultaneous use of multiple candles, oils and psalms, an effective though somehow dear approach.

This is a very detailed book on how to pray and use your faith as a catholic. It understands faith. Thanks

If I could give this no stars I would. Unfortunately this book reinforces the nastiness which used to be associated with witchcraft. the author advocates animal sacrifice and describes his blood initiation thus:."Although my eyes were closed, I could feel the warmth and wetness of the blood falling on my head". No comment needed!
I see a previous reviewer saying 'it will work' Well I don't dispute that, if you take the life force from another you are using powerful stuff, and I am quite sure it would work. But have we not gone beyond killing for personal gain? I guess not. (I am no authority, being a lapsed Catholic gone Pagan I guess, who reads Tarot and other uses Divination, yes and magic) But still it seems sad to me to see the Bible psalms and Holy Saints used to 'Break up a love affair' or 'Gain power over another'.
I think if the book had been sold as Santeria or Voodoo it would have been honest. But anyone who is repelled by the idea of Animal Sacrifice, and, or Black Magic should not choose this book.
By the way for anyone who is interested. If you want to contact any Saint, just light a plain candle and pray to them. It works just as well. -
I bought this book from . The book I received was very new and in good condition. Thanks . Now , about the book. I must say that the author has done a fantastic work. Hat's off to the author. The cover of the book is really glossy and colourful and that itself is really appealing and very beautiful. The title and cover of this book is what attracted me to this book in the first place. I have been looking for this kind of a book for a very long time and am very happy to have found this book. I am a Roman Catholic. I love this book. Not just Christian's , but anybody who want the Saint's help for any particular problem will find a solution in this book. There are total 74 Saint's listed in this book along with their feast day , day of the week , emblem , colour of the candle and also the specific area in which a particular Saint specialises in. Whether you are a Christian or not You can call upon the Saint's for their help. The author also gives a long list of candles to be used to get rid of specific problems. The author also gives the rituals which can be performed to get rid of problems using specific candles , oils and herbs. The author also gives an impressive list of candle anointing oils which are to be used to dress the candle for the rituals. The author has also written about a mystical novena , which no other author has ever written , that in itself , is a very good reason to buy this book. The author also gives details about incences , floor washes , spiritual and herbal baths etc. The author also tells us which psalms to read from the bible to overcome every problems people encounter in their lives. The author also talk's about rosaries , beads , prayer binder chaplet etc. This book is many books combined into one. You don't need to buy another book to know about Saint's , candles , oils , herbs etc. According to me , Roman Catholic's should definitely buy this book because there are so many information in this book which will appeal to them. This book is filled with so much information , You will be very happy that you bought this book. And after reading this book You will be much happy. At last I would like to say : THE SAINT'S ROCK. And after buying this book You will definitely agree with me.
