  Mr. Morris is one of the nation's leading experts on elections. He worked closely with President Clinton on his election. Morris argues in this book that Republicans lost the 2020 election because they failed to appreciate and adjust to how the Democrat party was much innovative in its get out the vote activities, a number of which he harshly criticizes. The Republicans lost because they were lazy and as a result were blind sided by a superior organizational and operational strategy of the Democrat team. This superior campaign included (a) gaining control of the offices of Secretary of State in a number of "swing" states; and (b) putting much effort into get out the vote, using in great measure the absentee ballot. His answer for the Republican side in the coming elections is that they should use the same techniques, plus some. The book is full of details about how U.S. elections work, showing both the good and less glamorous aspects of our system. This book should be read by anyone interested in election politics, including political consultants, community organizers, and attorneys who are dabbling in election law. The Return also has much commentary on the public policy issues separating Republicans and Democrats.

  I am very disappointed in this book. Dick Morris says that in the book he talks about the strategies Donald Trump will use to win back the White House. There is none of that in the book. The first few chapters are very good. Then all he talks about are the things the left has done or is doing, which is old news.
