This is absolutely the best Christmas book I have ever read. The Little Engine That Could meets The Polar Express with this book. In a world where books tell children that their uniqueness is all that is needed, this book goes a step further and teaches children that with hard work and perserverance they can use their uniquiness to help them achive their goals.
The Little Red Sleigh dreams of becoming Santa's sleigh but is told he is much to small. He starts off on his journey to the North Pole despite others saying he can't. Along the way the little sleigh gets help from a train and a truck. The little sleigh wishes out loud that he could be a big and strong as the train and truck. Both the train and the truck assure little sleigh that they earned their size and strength and with patience, persistence, and hard work little sleigh would earn his goals too. "Be patient, little sleigh. Life builds up one car at a time." Little Sleigh doens't end up making it to Santa in time for Christmas, but he does learn that just by being himself he can bring joy to children as he works his way to becoming Santa's sleigh.
The message of this books is so beautifully woven into the story and the illustrations are whimsical, making you yearn to be in the snowy North Pole.
If you only buy one Christmas book this year, THIS IS THE ONE! -
This is an adorable story, but I received this book that is put together upside down and backwards. You have to read right to left. Disappointed that quality control completely failed here.

This is a very sweet book we bought for one of our kids Christmas books it is super sweet but a little too wordy for to hold a young one's attention for long!

Wonderful story. Beautifully written. The illustrations add in to make this a new favorite read for our Christmas Eve gathering.

This is such a darling Christmas story! About a little red sleigh who has a big dream and believes in herself. Got this for my 3 year old, and she adores it. She'll be able to understand the bigger concept as she gets older, so this will be a book to last for years.
